Ch. 385Holy City (5): Cross

Asakura Yuko and Vede Hais went to the eastern district, where they witnessed a believer publicly crucified as a heretic. After the crowd dispersed, Yuko abducted a believer named Flor and demanded that he explain the Holy Lord’s legend and the dangers in the darkness.

  • Vede Hais proposed an alliance, and Asakura Yuko agreed on the condition that he guarantee her safety.
  • Yuko watched the crowd and priests crucify a young man accused of refusing an offering, recalling how she had joined White Crow’s Church of the Scales.
  • After the execution, Yuko seized Flor and dragged him behind a marble building.
  • Yuko questioned Flor about the Holy Lord, the darkness, and the final judgment prophecy, then stabbed his palm when he tried to shout.

Ch. 386Holy City (6): The Dying

Asakura Yuko questioned Flor about the Holy City’s faith and discovered that believers paid offerings in flesh, while she and Vede found contradictions in the clergy’s account of heretics. Meanwhile, Qi Si explored the temple graveyard with Father Rachi and uncovered a record granting the dead a chance to kill a player.

  • Flor told Asakura Yuko that the Holy Lord had protected believers with golden leaves, but night was approaching as the temple bells rang fewer times.
  • Asakura Yuko killed Flor, reasoned that believers might not count as people under the Instance’s rules, and recorded her suspicions on the Historical Book Page.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede saw priests collect flesh from believers, whose wounds rapidly grew new tissue, and the system refreshed a side quest to complete a donation for a Fire Seed.
  • Qi Si entered the rear courtyard with Father Rachi and saw visions of believers sacrificing flesh and blood to form a huge mass beneath the graveyard.
  • Qi Si opened the Historical Book Page and found a record stating that after death, he could choose to kill one player.

Ch. 387Holy City (7): A Sense of Conviction

Asakura Yuko and Vede discovered that Sparks unlocked possible explanations for Holy City's destruction, while Qi Si secretly spread his influence through the city. The Players agreed to cooperate on the main quest and investigate the dangers of night before Father Rachi led them to their rooms.

  • Asakura Yuko theorized that the priests used flesh offerings to preserve their power, and the system revealed that Sparks unlocked possible endings to Holy City's destruction.
  • Vede and Asakura Yuko returned to the temple as night fell, observing the city's sudden transition from light to darkness and hurrying inside.
  • Qi Si continued controlling Holy City's residents and used Flor's corpse to return to the cemetery.
  • Asakura Yuko shared her findings with the Players, who compared records and clues from their investigations.
  • William urged the Players to set aside faction rivalries, work together to collect Sparks, and investigate nighttime dangers; the representatives agreed to cooperate.
  • Father Rachi appeared with an oil lamp and led the Players toward their rooms, warning them that the night would be dangerous.

Ch. 388Holy City (8): Flor

The Players entered their numbered rooms in the Holy City and discovered that night held dangers beyond the Heretics’ killings. Meanwhile, Qi Si learned that Father Rachi was helping create an infant god from gathered authority, then made Flor a Heretic and sent him to kill Fu Jue.

  • The Players followed Priest Rachi through a corridor of numbered rooms, and Asakura Yuko suspected their room-sharing arrangements had been manipulated before she entered Room 11 alone.
  • William examined the lamp in his room and learned it could let him explore at night for a Spark, then saw a blood-eyed statue chewing a human arm.
  • Qi Si watched Flor’s corpse roam the Holy City and recognized the gathered authority forming an infant god.
  • Qi Si confronted Father Rachi, proposed an alliance to restore a god and eliminate the outsiders, and claimed he wanted an old friend resurrected.
  • Qi Si made Flor a Heretic, and Flor knocked three times on Room 12, triggering a message that Fu Jue had been killed.

Ch. 389Holy City (9): Ending Two

Asakura Yuko and Giles explored the Holy City at night, uncovering more about its factions, the mutated god, and a second possible ending. By dawn, Blairen and Fu Jue were missing, leaving the Players to face the consequences of their night together.

  • Asakura Yuko learned the heretic faction could kill by knocking three times on another Player’s door, but went out only to gather clues and avoided using the ability.
  • Giles and the Investigation Bureau representatives completed three side quests by sacrificing flesh, unlocked a rule for reporting shared rooms, and Giles used a spark to explore at night.
  • Giles discovered a second-ending conjecture about an evil presence consuming the Holy City and considered whether Qi Si was the new god.
  • Asakura Yuko recognized the golden tumor as a god’s primordial form, saw a Player carrying an oil lamp, then returned to the temple without killing anyone and fell asleep in the hall.
  • At dawn, the night explorers returned with excuses, and the Players discovered that Blairen and Fu Jue were missing after agreeing to share Room 12.

Ch. 390Holy City (10): Child of God

The Players discovered Fu Jue had been swallowed by the Idol and that his [Fallen Savior] Card had vanished with him, leaving the Eerie Investigation Bureau responsible for its loss. William became the Child of God and presided over a vote that targeted a short-haired girl, but Thomson suddenly changed his vote to Qi Si.

  • The Players found Blairen dead in Room 12 and discovered Fu Jue’s glasses in the Idol embedded in the ceiling, with no body or [Fallen Savior] Card remaining.
  • The representatives realized Fu Jue’s Identity Card had disappeared with him, and the tall woman urged them to establish whether someone had secretly taken it.
  • Father Rachi appointed William as the Child of God, then gave the Players time to discuss the judgment and the Instance’s endings.
  • William refused to accuse anyone without evidence, so Thomson requested more time and then voted for the short-haired girl.
  • The short-haired girl tried to reveal her Identity Card, but a system rule prevented her from showing it; five Players voted for her, four abstained, and she voted for Thomson.
  • At the last moment, Thomson redirected his vote from the short-haired girl to Qi Si, who noticed a grayish-silver glint in Thomson’s eyes.

Ch. 391Holy City (11): Scapegoat

After William wrongly condemned the short-haired girl, Father Rachi executed her and then killed William for the false judgment, leaving the Players wary of the Instance’s rules. Thomson took the Child of God role while the Eerie Investigation Bureau questioned whether Fu Jue was dead; meanwhile, Qi Si recognized Fu Jue as Puppeteer and proposed a deal.

  • William voted to condemn the short-haired girl, and Father Rachi dragged her to the square and had her nailed to the cross.
  • The girl’s Identity Card revealed that she had been a Believer, so Father Rachi declared William responsible and killed him with the cross pendant.
  • Thomson volunteered to become the Child of God after explaining that he had tested whether Qi Si could be selected in a vote.
  • The Eerie Investigation Bureau representatives found no one among their group held the [Fallen Savior] card and debated whether Fu Jue could still be alive.
  • Qi Si revealed that he knew Fu Jue was Puppeteer, inferred how Fu Jue had shaped the trial, and proposed a new deal.

Ch. 392The Grand Finale (April 1 Special Edition)

After the Eerie Game shut down, Si Qi and Li settled into an idle life with their friends in Jiang City, while Lin Chen brought food to their apartment. The chapter left Fu Jue and Si Qi’s mysterious transaction unexplained, with the author admitting she had not decided what it was.

  • The Eerie Game vanished after Fu Jue made a secret transaction with a god, and Fu Jue resigned from his government and guild positions.
  • Si Qi took in the homeless Li, who played Snake on a phone while Xu Yao unsuccessfully tried to recruit him for games.
  • Jin Yusheng pressed Si Qi for details about the final day, but Si Qi told him to guess instead.
  • Lin Chen visited Si Qi’s apartment with food, easing the group’s weeklong shortage of fresh meals.
  • The author said she had not yet made up what Fu Jue and Si Qi traded and posed an April Fools’ guessing game about who would survive.

Ch. 393Holy City (12): The Skeptic

Giles suspected that Fu Jue had survived and was controlling members of the team, but his attempt to meet Julie ended in an ambush in the cemetery. As living corpses surrounded him, Giles fought Julie, believing she and Fu Jue had joined forces to kill him.

  • Giles split from Fran in the cemetery and privately told Julie that he suspected some representatives had been affected by Fu Jue or an Instance mechanic.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede observed northern district believers donating flesh and blood, and Yuko questioned a believer at knifepoint about the ceremony.
  • Giles used the Eye of Hermes to watch Julie arrive in the northern district, then met her and asked her to discard the party ring.
  • Giles and Julie entered the cemetery, where living corpses emerged and attacked him after he crossed a stone wall.
  • Giles realized Julie had led him into a trap, dodged her black gauze, and wrapped spider thread around her neck.

Ch. 394Holy City (13): Those Who Fear Death

Julie fought Giles while the forces around them revealed the truth behind Giles’s actions and his Black Ring. In the Holy City, Asakura Yuko investigated the blood offerings, and Fujiwara Shinya concluded that Fu Jue was still alive before his companions reacted strangely.

  • Julie used scavenged weapons and a luck-enhancing ring to attack Giles, while Giles activated [Blood Feast] and tried to seize her as leverage against Fu Jue.
  • Julie resisted Giles’s spider silk by severing her own forearm, but the living corpses attacked her as Giles remembered accepting Fu Jue’s Black Ring to escape death at the cost of his free will.
  • Asakura Yuko learned that northern-district believers were donating flesh and blood, concluded the offerings had no benefit for the Evil God, and suspected the clergy were driving the believers toward rebellion.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede discussed whether the church’s oppression could provoke an uprising, while believers continued to trust that the Holy Lord would save and resurrect them.
  • Fujiwara Shinya and Sigmund found Giles’s ring, while Fran and Thomson found Julie’s; after the group discovered both were missing, Fujiwara Shinya declared that Fu Jue was still alive.
  • Fujiwara Shinya’s companions stared at him with blank faces and silver-gray eyes, while Sigmund remained apart from their strange reaction.

Ch. 395Holy City (16): Three Gods

Asakura Yuko and Vede returned to the temple as night fell, where they learned that Giles and Julie had disappeared. Meanwhile, Qi Si uncovered a hidden account of the Ancestral God’s origins and realized that someone had manipulated him into helping bring about the god’s revival, but he chose to continue the plan.

  • Qi Si reflected on his deals with Father Rachi and Fu Jue, while Asakura Yuko questioned the identity of the white-haired woman she had seen in a vision.
  • Asakura Yuko warned Vede against provoking a rebellion before they understood Holy City’s dangers and proposed waiting in the temple while other Players gathered clues.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede reached the temple as night swallowed Holy City, where Thomson told them Giles and Julie had been attacked and disappeared in the northern district.
  • Qi Si found a parchment in the Clock Tower describing the Ancestral God as the creator whose remains became the world and whose authority the gods had devoured.
  • Qi Si realized someone had concealed the Ancestral God’s survival and manipulated him into accelerating the god’s revival, but he told Father Rachi he would keep helping gather the World Fruit.

Ch. 396Holy City (17): Incitement

Qi Si learned that the Ancestral God had secretly influenced the Holy City and decided to help restore His body before trying to seal or kill Him. Asakura Yuko and Vede unlocked an ending and chose to incite the believers against the clergy, setting them on a march toward the temple.

  • Father Rachi dreamed of the Ancestral God and received an oracle accusing an Evil God of usurping the true god's place.
  • Qi Si realized the Ancestral God had seized control of Father Rachi and the clergy, then decided to help Him gather a body and intervene at the final stage.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede recognized that the Players who had given them Fire Seeds were puppets serving the Puppeteer.
  • Vede used a Fire Seed to unlock an ending that revealed the clergy had distorted the god's doctrine and prompted Asakura Yuko to choose [Agitate].
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede's choices stirred the believers' anger, and they took up weapons and charged toward the temple.

Ch. 397Three Gods of the Holy City (16)

Asakura Yuko and Vede escaped the northern district and chose to wait in the temple rather than risk exploring, but they arrived to find half the Players missing and Giles and Julie unaccounted for. In the Clock Tower, Qi Si discovered the Ancestral God’s hidden history and realized Father Rachi had manipulated him into helping the god revive, yet he decided to continue the plan.

  • Asakura Yuko explained to Vede that their best strategy was to avoid risks and let other Players gather information, and the two hurried toward the temple before nightfall.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede reached the temple as night swallowed the city and found that only half the Players remained; Thomson told them Giles and Julie had been attacked and disappeared in the northern district.
  • Qi Si found an ancient parchment in the Clock Tower describing the Lord of Life and how the gods had divided and consumed the Ancestral God’s remains.
  • Qi Si realized Father Rachi had concealed the Ancestral God’s remnants and used him to accelerate the god’s revival, but told Father Rachi he would continue helping gather the World Fruit.

Ch. 398Holy City (17): Incitement

Father Rachi received a divine revelation from the Ancestral God, while Qi Si weighed a gamble to hasten the god’s resurrection and later stop it. In Room 3, Asakura Yuko and Vede used Fire Seeds to choose an ending that incited the believers to storm the temple.

  • The Ancestral God warned Father Rachi in a vision that the Evil Gods had usurped the nest and that divine punishment would come with the apocalypse.
  • Qi Si concluded that the Ancestral God had been controlling Father Rachi and the clergy with spider silk, and decided to help it regain a body before trying to seal or kill it.
  • Asakura Yuko and Vede recognized that the Players who had handed over their Fire Seeds were the Puppeteer's puppets, then used Fire Seeds to unlock the ending choices.
  • Asakura Yuko chose [Incite] while Vede made his own choice, and their decisions led the believers to seize weapons and charge toward the temple.

Ch. 399Holy City (18): Orator

Qi Si’s scheme turned Holy City’s believers against the Ancestral God, while Asakura Yuko recovered memories of White Crow’s influence and was killed by Vede. Vede inherited her [Taboo Scholar] Identity Card and encountered the supposedly dead Fu Jue, who prepared to enlist him in the next stage of the plan.

  • Qi Si told Fu Jue that the prophecy required the Child of God identity to be left vacant, and Fu Jue explained his plan to use that sacrifice to begin a godless age.
  • Flor’s corpse spread the truth about Holy City’s nightly horror, and Qi Si’s substituted divine names led the believers to worship him and become heretics.
  • Asakura Yuko remembered how White Crow’s [Utopian Orator] effect had turned the Church of the Scales into an extension of his will, then left Vede and wrote him a warning on Historical Book Pages.
  • Vede used the record [Offer the Sacrifice's Soul and Flesh to God] to kill Asakura Yuko, dismissing her warning before taking the [Taboo Scholar] Identity Card from her corpse.
  • Fu Jue appeared alive and told Vede to bind the [Taboo Scholar] Identity Card immediately.

Ch. 400Holy City (19): God's Birthday

Flor’s revelation drove the believers to storm the temple, where Father Rachi’s ritual sacrificed them to revive the Ancestral God. As Fu Jue and Qi Si tried to contain the awakening with their Identity Cards and powers, the Ancestral God’s spirit fully awakened.

  • Flor told the believers that Father Rachi had distorted God’s oracle, and they broke into the temple and discovered the hidden graveyard and ritual altar.
  • The golden light pierced the believers with root-like threads while the Players gathered outside; Fu Jue revealed that he had used Vede as a one-time tool, and Qi Si watched the ritual begin.
  • The Flower of Rules bloomed above the Holy City as the Ancestral God’s influence silenced the city and afflicted the Players; Fu Jue used the Dice of Fate to block the descending threads.
  • Qi Si reached for the phantom sundial and used the Scarlet High Priest’s power against it, while Vede bound the [Taboo Scholar] Identity Card and drew the Ancestral God’s gaze.
  • Father Rachi watched the believers become sacrifices, then offered himself to the ritual as the flower opened its final petal.
  • A white-haired figure in white descended on silvery threads, and the Ancestral God’s spirit truly awakened.

Ch. 401Holy City (20): Execution Day

Qi Si and Fu Jue tried to use Vede’s identity as the Son of God to condemn Fu Jue as a Heretic and interrupt the Ancestral God’s possession. The execution failed to injure the Ancestral God, who appeared before Qi Si as the group prepared to escape.

  • Qi Si stabbed the newborn god’s tumor, while Fu Jue made Vede the Son of God and tried to bind him with the record [The Son of God Was Nailed to the Cross].
  • Qi Si replaced part of the Holy City’s history using the sundial’s authority, creating a paradox that disrupted the Ancestral God’s manifestation.
  • Fu Jue told Qi Si that he had planned to let Vede condemn whichever of them the Ancestral God possessed, and Vede declared Fu Jue a Heretic under threat from Qi Si.
  • Vede ordered the execution, and Qi Si nailed Fu Jue to the cross, but the Ancestral God left Fu Jue without suffering decisive injury.
  • Qi Si prepared to teleport away with the authority over time and space, but the Ancestral God sealed the paths and confronted him.
  • The Ancestral God touched Qi Si’s forehead and asked why his blood was red and what had happened to his divine body.

Ch. 402Holy City (End): Godless Land

Qi Si resisted the Ancestral God while Fu Jue survived the crucifixion and helped secure the Holy City Instance’s victory. The people of Holy City rejected the Holy Lord and began worshipping the cross, recording the True End, “Godless Land.”

  • Vede was nailed to a cross by the effect of Qi Si’s Historical Book Page as the Ancestral God immobilized Qi Si and Fu Jue.
  • Qi Si challenged the Ancestral God to possess his flawed human body, then used the Nether Guide to become a ghost and weaken Its control.
  • Fu Jue triggered Return, escaped his cross, and saved Vede by making him accept the loss of his free will.
  • Fu Jue recognized that the Ancestral God was weakened, and he and Vede worked toward the simplest way to end the Instance.
  • The last believer died, and the system announced Fu Jue’s victory in the faction confrontation.
  • Flor exposed the Holy Lord’s deception to the survivors, who abandoned their faith in the Holy Lord and began worshipping the cross; the system recorded the Godless Land True End.

Ch. 403Fool Deceiver

Players learned that Fu Jue alone cleared the Holy City Instance, while Yu Jinsheng warned them to prepare for the final Instance. Qi Si survived and revealed that he and Fu Jue had cooperated, then destroyed the Fool Deceiver card as a sea of roses consumed Jiang City.

  • The Revelation Fragment Stele erased the Taboo Scholar card, and the record stone announced Fu Jue as the sole player to clear the Holy City Instance.
  • Yu Jinsheng advised players to reset their countdowns and stock up before the final Instance opened.
  • Lin Chen feared Fu Jue had killed Qi Si, but Qi Si contacted him and explained that he had not entered the Holy City Instance as a player and had cooperated with Fu Jue.
  • Qi Si warned Lin Chen to buy life-saving items and told him about the Ancestral God.
  • Qi Si reviewed the failed attempt to stop the Ancestral God and shattered the Fool Deceiver card, thinking of Zhou Ke.
  • A sea of roses engulfed Jiang City, consuming its buildings and living things.

Ch. 404Wind and Rain Prelude

Asakura Yuko died after sealing the [Taboo Scholar] card in the Holy City Instance, while White Crow prepared the Flower of Rules. Elsewhere, Dong Xiwen learned that his brother’s death and his rise within the Scales were planned, Fu Jue faced questions about the Instance, and Qi Si received a proposal for secret cooperation before the final Instance.

  • Asakura Yuko told White Crow that the [Taboo Scholar] card would remain in the Holy City Instance, then died at nine-thirty and left records that White Crow shredded.
  • White Crow admitted that she had controlled Yuko to prevent variables from disrupting the [Utopian Orator] ritual, then opened the window as the Flower of Rules gathered outside.
  • Dong Ziwen revealed to Dong Xiwen that his death and Xiwen’s recruitment into the Church of the Scales had been part of Yuan’s plan to watch White Crow, and Xiwen showed them his [Fool Deceiver] card.
  • Fu Jue recounted the Holy City Instance to the surviving representatives, rejected accusations that he had let them die, and agreed to meet Brooke Hayes in North Capital.
  • Fu Jue told Li Yunyang to conserve her strength until the final Instance, while Qi Si woke from his struggle with the Ancestral God and received a secret-cooperation message from Fu Jue.
