Background / History

Tang San grew up in Holy Soul Village as the son of the blacksmith Tang Hao. As a child, he regularly cooked, chopped wood, and handled household chores while Tang Hao drank; Old Jack regarded him as a gifted and dependable child. Tang San was chosen to attend Notting Junior Soul Master Academy alongside Yun Feng. 4

He possessed Innate Full Soul Power with Blue Silver Grass, an unusual combination that drew attention once its implications became apparent. He considered joining Martial Soul Hall after learning of its opportunities for common-born Spirit Masters. 6

Tang San guarded the Mysterious Heaven Skill as the foundation of his life and refused Yun Feng's requests to learn it. He nevertheless offered Yun Feng general advice, including drinking hot water to improve Innate Soul Power. 2 3

His relationship with Yun Feng deteriorated over time. Tang San became jealous of Yun Feng's growing closeness with Xiao Wu and his rapid progress, even considering removing Yun Feng before stopping himself because of their friendship. 17 Later revelations concerning Tang San's past-life actions further damaged their relationship. 363 365

After the events involving Martial Soul Hall, Tang Hao took Tang San to a hidden mountain valley for punishing physical and hammer training. Tang San spent months under a waterfall and eventually mastered the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer while his Spirit Power was sealed. 370 372

Tang San later poisoned his younger brother with Seven Day Kill poison while Tang Hao was away. Ah Yin subsequently awakened her Blue Silver Emperor power, stripped Tang San of the associated bloodline, and caused his Blue Silver Grass to wither. 376 378 379

Following his abandonment by Tang Hao and pursuit by the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Tang San fled toward Slaughter City. There, he killed twenty-two tavern patrons, killed the waiter, and entered the city despite being unable to use Martial Souls or Spirit Skills within its rules. 380 381 382

Appearance

Tang San was initially a thin, small child who cultivated alone on the mountain near Holy Soul Village. After losing the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline, his body shrank and his appearance became markedly uglier. 2 379

  • His eyes emit a purple glow while using the Purple Demon Eye. 2
  • His height falls to roughly 1.4 meters after the bloodline loss. 379
  • His arm is reattached after a severe injury but remains permanently misshapen. 301
  • The evolved Eight Spider Lances manifest as black, armor-like protrusions across his back. 565

Personality

Tang San is calculating, guarded, and deeply protective of the techniques he considers his foundation. He can be patient and helpful in low-stakes situations, as shown by his early guidance to Yun Feng, but his trust is limited. 2 3

In battle, he is highly adaptive and ruthless. He employs concealed weapons, poison, traps, and rapid skill chains without hesitation, and ignored Dai Mubai's pleas after inflicting severe pain with Dragon Whisker Needles. 46 66

His resentment increasingly defines his later actions. He kills Yu Xiaogang in revenge, poisons his younger brother, and resolves to kill those around Yun Feng after breaking free of Yun Feng's influence. 365 376 423
