Luo Xia still knew far too little about magic. The idea that using his own energy wouldn't violate the laws of nature was just his own guess. To learn the truth, he would probably have to ask a real sorcerer himself.
Having cleared up that question, Luo Xia wasn't sleepy at all, so he simply left his room to find Kaecilius and ask him about it.
It wasn't too late yet, around ten at night. Kaecilius was meditating in his room, but when he sensed Luo Xia approaching, he opened the door and welcomed him in.
"Luo Xia, what can I do for you?" Kaecilius asked, like a kind older man.
"Sorcerer Kaecilius, I have a question. Kamar-Taj's spells draw energy from other dimensions in the multiverse. Could we draw energy directly from our own dimension to cast spells?" Luo Xia asked.
"Draw energy directly from this world? Are you planning to cast spells with a car battery? I hear those lightweight rechargeable batteries are a specialty of China." Kaecilius looked puzzled.
Luo Xia: "..."
Sorcerers who were too closely connected to the modern world could be surprisingly hard to talk to.
"What I mean is, why do we have to draw energy from other dimensions to cast spells? Is there some particular reason?" Luo Xia asked.
"I've never really thought about it. But do you know what the names Hoggoth, Oshtur, Agamotto, and Vishanti in the spells I taught you refer to?" Kaecilius asked.
"I heard from Dr. Banner that they're deities from mythology. Hoggoth, Oshtur, and Agamotto are all aspects of Vishanti, who is the triune god of order and magic."
"Or you could call him the god of white magic," Kaecilius explained.
"It's said that magic doesn't actually belong to Earth. It's a method of cultivation passed
