If it was a machine, how could its outer shell be one seamless piece? Could it really be as soft as leather? If not, wouldn't that mean its whole body was rigid? And if it was a living creature, how could it have only one leg? That didn't fit the normal structure of a living organism.

Creatures that were good at jumping needed at least two legs, or even a tail, to keep their balance. Gravity dictated that kind of structure; it shouldn't differ much from planet to planet.

Korath floored the Maglev Speeder, intending to knock the Golden One-Legged Bull aside, but was stunned to find that the bizarre, unnatural monster didn't budge an inch.

"How is that possible?"

In theory, the Maglev Speeder had enough thrust to push a thirty-ton object. The monster in front of him looked barely half a person's height. How could he possibly fail to knock it over?
