Hank Pym, once a technical consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D., had been an outstanding agent during World War II and was also the renowned scientist Dr. Pym.
He had invented a technology known as Pym Particles, which could shrink a person down to the size of an ant. It was an incredibly advanced technology: not only did it not make the human body more fragile, it actually made it stronger. It even defied the laws of physics, reducing weight proportionally as well.
A person became ant-sized while retaining the same strength, yet their body truly weighed as little as an ant's. That made their jumping ability and other physical capabilities terrifyingly powerful.
Dr. Pym cherished this technology greatly and refused to make it public, or even let anyone else know about it. After World War II ended, he left S.H.I.E.L.D. outright and completely buried the technology.
But when Indra's invitation arrived at his home, he knew he could no longer stay hidden. Whether for his family's sake or his own, he had to attend this meeting and find out what Hydra, his old nemesis, was plotting.
He had not expected, however, to feel fortunate about that decision now. Beside Dr. Pym, a bald man bound tightly in ropes was kneeling on the floor. No matter how he struggled, he could not break free from the ropes of some unknown material.
Darren Cross, Dr. Pym's former student. After Dr. Pym retired, Darren Cross took over the company Dr. Pym had founded and recreated the Pym Particle technology that Dr. Pym had hidden away.
This man was certainly a genius in his own right, but his current predicament left Darren Cross with no room for pride.
Darren Cross had naturally received Indra's invitation as well, but he had dismissed it with contempt and continued
