The abilities Luo Xia had gained went far beyond simply creating Transformers.
The list of secondary modification technologies had Luo Xia quite excited.
[Pulse Pistol: Costs 500 units of AllSpark energy. Created by modifying a Browning Pistol. Uses AllSpark energy as ammunition to fire powerful Pulse Energy Blasts and can fire in bursts; the magazine holds 40 rounds, and reloading takes one second. Each Pulse Energy Blast consumes one unit of AllSpark energy.] [Sensor Glove (locked): Requires the AllSpark energy limit to reach 000.] [Tactical Goggles (locked): Requires the AllSpark energy limit to reach 000.] [Energy Activator: Costs 1,000 units of AllSpark energy. Created using nuclear material as its raw material. Uses spatial technology to provide the host with AllSpark energy, regardless of distance or restrictions. Each Energy Activator increases the host's AllSpark energy limit by 1,000 units and boosts the AllSpark energy recovery rate by 1 unit per second.] [When the AllSpark energy limit exceeds 10,000, the second-stage function can be unlocked.]
The Energy Activator was probably the most essential piece of equipment, and the key to the evolution of Luo Xia's abilities. Unfortunately, even finding the nuclear material would be difficult, and he had no idea how much would be needed.
So although he really wanted to find out what the other two pieces of equipment did, Luo Xia could only set that aside for now. He had to deal with the problem in front of him first before he could focus on developing his abilities.
Luo Xia immediately created the only weapon he could currently use: the Pulse Pistol. AllSpark energy flowed into the Browning Pistol, modifying it at the nanoscale. Its mechanical components transformed on their own, even changing their material. The process was incredibly complex, yet the modification was complete in just a few seconds.
The Pulse Pistol looked intensely futuristic, with an entirely milky-white exterior. It seemed much heavier than an ordinary pistol. Beneath its white casing, streaks of blue light kept flowing; the pulse conversion components inside were continuously running.
Luo Xia tried pulling the trigger at a sand dune. He barely felt any recoil, hearing only a rapid series of whooshing sounds. The next moment, a huge crater had been blasted into the ten-meter-high dune.
He'd barely squeezed the trigger, yet five rounds of ammunition were gone. This was a burst-fire pistol, and a mere forty rounds wouldn't last ten seconds of full-auto fire. Still, its power far exceeded that of ordinary bullets, and it had an area-of-effect blast. Perhaps the Pulse Pistol should really be called a Pulse Cannon.
Its sheer power already made it stronger than that Desert Eagle.
It was powerful, could fire in bursts, had low recoil, and had virtually unlimited ammunition. The Pulse Pistol's only drawback was probably its weight. Luo Xia found it tiring to use with one hand and had to hold it with both.
Still, it was pretty good. It was better than any pistol he'd ever used.
Luo Xia spent quite some time getting used to his new weapon, growing ever more attached to the Pulse Pistol.
"If I'd had a weapon like this in my previous life, so many of my comrades wouldn't have had to die." With a sigh, Luo Xia slid the Pulse Pistol into its custom holster at his waist.
"Mr. Luo Xia, could I ask you something, if you have a moment?" Yinsen's voice came from behind him.
Over the past two days, Yinsen had been tending to the wounded. Although their medical supplies were meager, Yinsen was an excellent doctor and had managed to save most of their lives.
Luo Xia had great respect for a kindhearted doctor like him.
"What's the matter?" Luo Xia asked Yinsen.
"I heard you say that you think more terrorists might come?" Yinsen asked tensely.
"It's just my guess. If the U.S. military gets here before the terrorists, then all the better." Luo Xia shrugged.
"But from the way you said it, you seem to think the terrorists are sure to arrive first." Yinsen keenly sensed that Luo Xia had left something unsaid.
"Because Tony finished making the Signal Generator yesterday and told the U.S. military where we are. But I still haven't seen a single U.S. military aircraft. So maybe someone in the military wants the terrorists to find Tony first."
There was one more thing Luo Xia hadn't said: there were already terrorist moles within the U.S. military. Otherwise, Tony's whereabouts wouldn't have been leaked. That was why Luo Xia believed more enemies would show up soon.
Feeling that the topic had grown a little too heavy, Luo Xia asked Yinsen, "If we make it out alive, will you leave this place? I think Tony should be able to help."
Yinsen gave a helpless, bitter smile. "My whole family is dead. This is my home, and I'm not leaving. What about you, Mr. Luo Xia? Are you planning to go to the United States with Tony?"
"Yeah, I am. You're luckier than me. I don't have a family, or even a home. But that's a good thing, too. When I have to do certain things in the future, I won't have to worry about as much."
"That doesn't sound like a good thing."
"If I told you that humanity would face countless crises in the future, each one capable of destroying the whole world, would you believe me?"
Yinsen hesitated before asking, "You mean wars?"
"Not just wars. There are things even more terrifying than that."
Images of fierce battles flashed through Luo Xia's mind. In the movies, good always triumphed over evil, but now that he was in the Marvel Universe, how could he trust everything to luck? Take the Chitauri invasion: what would happen if the portal couldn't be closed in time?
"Every crisis in the future will bring countless civilian casualties. I want to change that, to give people the ability to protect themselves when disaster strikes," Luo Xia told Yinsen.
"How will you do that?" Yinsen could tell Luo Xia was serious. Even standing in the blazing desert sunlight, he felt a chill run through him.
"First, make sure I can survive those crises. Then, help more people survive." Yinsen couldn't understand what Luo Xia meant. The only thing he understood was the resolve in his voice.
Ever since Luo Xia realized he'd crossed over into the Marvel Universe, he'd felt an intense sense of urgency. This world was simply too dangerous. And the moment he'd arrived, he'd already seriously disrupted the story of Iron Man.
Luo Xia couldn't expect everything that followed to play out just as he remembered. One unexpected event could trigger a chain reaction, causing everything to collapse like a row of Dominoes.
So Luo Xia had to get stronger as quickly as possible. At the very least, he had to become capable of protecting himself before the Chitauri arrived—or even strong enough to face that alien army head-on.
Looking down at his hands, Luo Xia murmured, "I wonder how much AllSpark energy it would take to turn an aircraft carrier into a Transformer."
