Completing the Task, Becoming Azure Cloud Master's Disciple
This was not Su Xing's first time entering a dungeon, but no dungeon had ever left him this stunned.
He was currently standing atop a mountain peak. He had no idea how high it was, but looking around, all he could see was a sea of clouds, as though immortal mist drifted through the air.
There were several mu of fields on the mountain, planted with lush green Spirit Grain and quite a few medicinal herbs he could not name.
A hundred meters away from Su Xing stood a Thatched Cottage, with a well outside it.
Su Xing took a deep breath. He could sense Spiritual Energy drifting through the air, and he unconsciously began circulating his cultivation technique as the Spiritual Energy continuously nourished his body.
"This truly is an immortal paradise!"
Su Xing sighed softly, unable to suppress his excitement.
Jin Congxue seemed equally puzzled as she said, "I've never encountered a dungeon like this before. There might be monsters hiding nearby... We should be careful!"
With that, Jin Congxue began examining the surroundings. Su Xing did not stop her.
Before long, Su Xing pointed at the Thatched Cottage ahead and said, "Why don't we take a look inside that cottage?"
Jin Congxue had wanted to refuse, but after hesitating for a moment, she nodded in agreement.
Su Xing came before the Thatched Cottage, knocked on the door several times, then waited quietly.
Not long afterward, an elderly man in Daoist robes opened the door. He had an immortal bearing, a child-like face and crane-like hair, and an astonished expression on his face.
"How did you two find this secluded abode of mine?"
Su Xing and Jin Congxue exchanged a glance and both said that they had stumbled in by chance.
The old man nodded slightly after hearing this. "It seems you two are people of profound fortune and affinity with this poor Daoist!"
"Since the two of you are fated to meet me, this poor Daoist wishes to grant you a fortunate opportunity. What do you say?"
Su Xing and Jin Congxue nodded in agreement.
"May I ask what this fortunate opportunity is, Daoist?" Su Xing asked, pretending not to know.
The old man glanced at Su Xing, surprise flashing across his face before he regained his composure and slowly said, "The Spirit Fields on this mountain have gone untended for several months. Why don't you help me tend them first?"
Su Xing and Jin Congxue were then led to a stretch of Spirit Fields.
The old man pointed to a smaller Spirit Field and said, "Miss, I'll leave this Spirit Field to you. How about it?"
Though Jin Congxue was thoroughly confused, she still nodded in agreement.
"Yes, Daoist!"
The old man then turned to Su Xing and said, "Young friend, I'll leave that larger Spirit Field to you. How about it?"
Su Xing looked toward the Spirit Field and raised an eyebrow.
At a glance, that field was more than one mu in size—likely two or three mu.
This was different from the size of the Spirit Field in the simulation... What exactly had changed?
A thought struck Su Xing. His greatest change was undoubtedly his cultivation!
Having him farm more land might be a greater trial.
Su Xing cupped his hands. "Yes, Daoist!"
The two then collected their farm tools and began tending the Spirit Fields.
Su Xing had grown up in the countryside and had done plenty of farmwork as a child. He had also crammed a great deal of farming knowledge over the past month, so he picked it up fairly quickly.
Jin Congxue, on the other hand, was different. She was not completely ignorant of grains, but she truly could not tell weeds apart from Spirit Grain.
So Su Xing finished his own work first, then patiently guided Jin Congxue, teaching her how to weed and irrigate.
Fortunately, Spirit Grain did not need fertilizer. Otherwise, Su Xing would have had to teach her how to spread manure... That would have been far too awkward!
After reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage, Su Xing's Evergreen Cultivation Technique had also broken through to the second level, and the Wood Attribute Spiritual Energy within him had become even more abundant.
Even tending two or three mu of land at once did not tire Su Xing. He even had time to infuse Jin Congxue's Spirit Grain with Spiritual Energy.
Using Spiritual Energy to farm meant absorbing the Spiritual Energy in the air, then channeling it into the Spirit Grain.
Through this process, Su Xing became increasingly adept at controlling Spiritual Energy and magical power.
"The water from this well is truly sweet~"
After finishing the farmwork, Su Xing sat beside the well and took a drink of its clear, cool water.
The well water also contained a considerable amount of Spiritual Energy. It could indeed be called a Spiritual Well.
"Su Xing... What benefit do you think we get from farming like this?"
After a hard day's work, Jin Congxue pounded her weary shoulders and complained.
She had grown up in the city. At first, she had been somewhat interested, but after an entire day of being exhausted and dirty, she was naturally growing sick of it.
Su Xing shook his head slightly. "I don't know what the reward will be either... But this dungeon has beautiful mountains, clear waters, and Spiritual Energy everywhere. Farming can also cultivate one's body and mind."
Jin Congxue rolled her eyes and said charmingly, "Oh, give me a break! The harder the task, the better the rewards should be... But this dungeon's task is just farming. What good reward could there possibly be?"
Although Jin Congxue said that, she had no intention of leaving the dungeon.
In the blink of an eye, seven days passed. The Spirit Grain in Su Xing's two or three mu of fields was growing exceptionally well, and all the weeds had been removed.
As for the one mu of Spirit Field tended by Jin Congxue, with Su Xing's help, its growth was also quite promising.
On the evening of the seventh day, the old man summoned Su Xing and Jin Congxue into the Thatched Cottage.
The old man first took out a bag of Spirit Rice and a smaller bag of Spirit Stones, handing them to Jin Congxue as he said, "Your Spirit Field has grown well. These are Fifty Jin of Spirit Rice and fifty Spirit Stones, your reward."
Jin Congxue accepted the reward, but she looked at Su Xing with some embarrassment.
She did not know how to farm at all. For the Spirit Field to have grown this well, at least sixty percent of the credit belonged to Su Xing!
"Thank you, Daoist!"
After Jin Congxue thanked him, the old man waved his hand and sent her out of the dungeon.
The old man then looked Su Xing over before taking a Transparent Stone from his robes. "Young friend, place your hand on this. How about it?"
Su Xing's heart pounded wildly. Although he had gone through this several times in simulations, he could not help but feel nervous now.
After slowly placing his hand on it, red and green light flashed across the stone.
The old man nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. A Wood-Fire Dual Spiritual Root. Though it cannot compare to a Supreme Single Spiritual Root, it is enough to embark upon the path of immortality..."
After praising him, the old man asked again, "I see that you already possess cultivation. Do you already have a master?"
Su Xing's heart raced. It's happening! Is he going to take me as his disciple?
So Su Xing shook his head and said, "I have no master. I happened to obtain a cultivation technique before, so I muddled my way onto the path of immortality..."
The old man nodded slightly. "To reach the Foundation Establishment Stage Ninth Level through self-exploration alone, your talent and fortune are truly exceptional! Furthermore, you worked diligently while farming and never complained. Your temperament is excellent as well."
"To encounter this poor Daoist amid these vast Three Thousand Worlds, you and I must share a deep affinity..."
The old man paused, then continued, "I see that the cultivation technique you practice is the Evergreen Cultivation Technique of the Evergreen Sect. Though this technique has a limited upper bound, it is greatly beneficial to cultivators who have just entered the path of cultivation!"
"Moreover, Wood Attribute techniques absorb the vitality of all things and may return one to nature... They are well suited for learning the Path of Spirit Cultivation and Planting!"
At this point, a trace of hesitation appeared on the old man's face. Finally Still, he let out a soft sigh and said, "So be it. Meeting is fate~"
"This poor Daoist is merely an old farmer of the Azure Cloud Sect. My Daoist Title is Azure Cloud Master. Would you be willing to take me as your master, young friend?"
"This poor Daoist is willing to accept you as a Registered Disciple..."
