Running Wolf Fortress.

This was a steel fortress nestled between mountain ranges, its surface bristling with densely packed cannon barrels like needles, all aimed at the white wasteland beyond the mountains.

A vast number of bloodthirsty beasts lived there.

Running Wolf Fortress was the most important line of defense and stronghold guarding the borders of the Sulida Kingdom.

Amid the snow, several black dots could vaguely be seen.

They were cheetah-like mechanical armored suits, their four limbs spread wide as they raced across the snow.

Behind them came a pack of bloodthirsty leopards.

Each was over six meters long, their skin festering and rotten, exposing bright red muscle beneath. Their fangs were sharp, marked with stains like blood-colored rust, and their eyes held little intelligence, filled only with madness.

"Beast pack detected due north. Prepare the magic-pattern cannons!"

Within the fortress, a row of cannon barrels engraved with countless magic patterns began charging.

The Sulida Kingdom had always been renowned for its study of magic patterns, and Running Wolf Fortress had spared no expense. It alone possessed eighteen "city-destroying" main cannons, along with more than three hundred secondary cannons.

What they were deploying now was neither the main cannons nor the secondary cannons, but merely the most basic fire support.

Boom!

The magic-pattern cannons roared, exploding amid the bloodthirsty leopard pack in the rear.

Blazing heat burst forth, and shockwaves swept through the air along with severed limbs and mangled remains.

"Prepare to open Gate H-13 and welcome the vanguard squad back!"

"Haha... A pack of bloodthirsty leopards? Are they here to die?"

To the fortress garrison, this was merely routine. Whether they were stationed at the lookout towers or operating the artillery, everyone remained quite relaxed.

An inconspicuous small gate in the fortress opened. Though
