History

Early life and awakening

At twenty-one, Sulu was an underperforming St. George University student nearing graduation, with average looks, average grades, and few prospects for employment. His official identity used the shortened name “Sulu Portley,” while his full name preserved a long family naming tradition. 1

Later revelations establish that Sulu was a transmigrator who merged with Sulu Portley’s soul. His drive to locate his father Tonks and protect his connection to Rhode stems from a promise he made after that fusion. 729 758

After Black Sorcery left him physically depleted, Sulu joined the Combat Club to rebuild his body and gain the means to defend himself. Under Angelia’s instruction, he rapidly internalized Krav Maga Combat Arts, turning its Eight Forms from rote drills into instinctive combat responses. 8 9 12

Rise as a transcendent

Sulu’s Attribute Panel allowed him to gain and invest experience, though repeated victories over the same opponent quickly ceased to provide meaningful returns. Stranded injured in a low-magic icefield, Sulu adapted by building shelter, conserving magical resources, and intimidating threats he could not afford to fight. 275

In the Dragon World, he chose the dangerous [Dimensional Walker] advancement over [Dream Master], judging mobility and escape capacity more valuable than immediate power. The process covered him in Void Runes and nearly overwhelmed his sense of self. 302

After helping Messiah secure the royal palace, Sulu received the title of Viscount of Violet. He showed little interest in retaining political authority and planned to pass the title to his student Ham. 347

Return, godhood, and later incarnations

Upon returning to the Main World, Sulu found that a year had passed and the Professional Registration Act had transformed the transcendent landscape. He remained low-profile while searching for Rhode and avoiding the Federation’s growing attention. 356

Sulu eventually reached godhood, confronted the Federation’s professionals, and sent them into the abyss to face the Demon. He later defeated Lady Moon and began digesting her authorities over the River Styx and Death. 575 717

During an attempt to reach Blue Star, his Mythical Body disintegrated in the atmosphere. His Spirit Mage Heart entered the corpse of Bai Jing, allowing Sulu to continue under a new identity in a world initially cut off from supernatural power. 469 470
