A Twisted Sense of Aesthetics

Xiang Kun carefully thought back over what he had done during those sixteen hours that could have led to this result.

Had he gained an ability to locate objects, or could he only locate this particular tissue?

Had he unconsciously done something to "affect" the tissue, or had his body or consciousness simply undergone some kind of mutation specifically in response to it?

During those sixteen hours the day before yesterday, when Xiang Kun stared at that tissue, all he had thought about was making it move with his mind.

But all sorts of sensory information still entered his brain much of the time.

For instance, he could detect all kinds of subtle scents from the paper, even faintly picking out the respective smells of chlorine, bleaching powder, and wood pulp.

And at certain moments, while staring at the tissue, he seemed to see piles upon piles of tangled things, like vermicelli woven together.

His first reaction at the time had been that he was seeing the tissue's fibrous structure, but he quickly decided that was impossible. Even if his vision had evolved, it could not possibly have evolved to that extent. Based on the fibers he had seen, it would have required magnification of at least a hundred times.

But thinking back now, perhaps he really had seen the tissue fibers?

Yet if staring at the tissue's minute details for a long time had made his body believe he urgently needed microscopic vision, causing his eyesight to mutate and evolve, then he should only have gained that ability after drinking blood and mutating. It should not have appeared immediately. That contradicted the pattern he had previously summarized: targeted training, blood-drinking, mutation.

What was more, he could no longer see microscopic scenes to that extent
