A pitch-black radiance tore open out of thin air above America's west coast.

Fiona stepped out of the rift, looked around, and could not help frowning.

Dark clouds churned across the sky. Volcanoes spewed thick smoke, staining even the clouds gray-black.

Lava flowed across the ground, turning everything black and red. If that were all, it would have been normal enough. After all, this place had once been ravaged by the Burning Legion. Though those creatures did not block out the sunlight, setting the earth ablaze was one of their trademarks.

The hissing of erupting steam and the roar of all kinds of machinery nearly made Fiona rub her eyes.

Across the black-and-red earth stood enormous open-air factories! Large numbers of workers wearing respirators bustled about, dumping piles of "crystals" into lava furnaces, seemingly forging equipment. At first glance, it looked as though she had traveled back to a fantasy age.

But upon closer inspection, the workers' equipment was all distinctly high-tech in style.

Looking at the gigantic Gothic black castles in the distance, their towering spires and thick walls made Fiona raise a hand to her forehead.

"Has this place already turned into Middle-earth?"
