Touma's First Kiss, It's Dolly's

Yamagata Prefecture, Mogami Town, Salmon Village.

As the name suggested, the river called the Mogami River passed through here; the village made its living by fishing, hence the name Salmon Village.

Though it flowed through only a single prefecture, the Mogami River was the Island Nation's largest river. Its basin covered 75% of Yamagata Prefecture, while the people living within it accounted for 80% of the prefecture's population. It could be said that without this river, there would be no Yamagata Prefecture.

What made the Mogami River even more famous, however, was haiku.

Matsuo Basho, the Island Nation's "Haiku Saint," had once penned the timeless classic: "May rains fall in torrents / Gathering in the famed Mogami River / Rushing ever onward."

Later, in a certain Island Nation anime called Nichijou, the heroine forgot to bring her homework and was made to stand outside the classroom. She, too, composed a poem: "Rushing homework at midnight / Forgot it, stand in the hallway / Today's the Mogami River." This caused the phrase "most XX" to become an online standard for judging haiku.

Of course, that was not the important part. Rather, the once-abandoned Salmon Village had been cleaned up and put back into use.

Because two "important figures" had come to visit!

Having changed into a traditional women's yukata, the girl named Dolly stretched lazily in satisfaction.

This was a typical Island Nation countryside. The nearby buildings were also full of last-century style—single-story wooden houses with tiled roofs, the sort found in rural areas.
