Bang!
"Damn it, why are there so many of them?"
Inside the massive main control room of the Super Dimension Fortress, an Island Nation police inspector general roared and slammed his fist heavily onto the command console, leaving a deep fist mark in the new alloy material.
On the screen before him, against the dark and boundless cosmos, chariots were charging toward them: winged pegasi pulled the carts, while Sparta warriors in helmets and armor, wielding classic spears and great shields, rode atop them.
"What are the long-range attack systems doing? Take out those enemy troops!"
This enormous Super Dimension Fortress was a military construct, so combat had naturally been taken into consideration.
It was equipped with all kinds of long-range point-defense laser arrays, medium-range electromagnetic railguns, and defensive drone swarms, but—
"N-No, sir!"
The sweating commander forced himself to report, "The enemy raid was too fast. They directly broke into the fortress interior, rendering many of our long-range heavy weapons ineffective."
Most high-tech offensive and defensive methods emphasized "beyond-visual-range strikes"; and regardless of the attack, at its core, it was usually just "throwing rocks"—which meant that once the enemy got right in their faces, many heavy weapons could no longer be used.
As for small drones and the like?
Quite a few had indeed been deployed, but they could only serve as a distraction;
against the agility and defenses of those Sparta warriors, drones were nothing more than slow-moving snails.
One sweep of a spear could clear out a whole swath of them.
Ordinary explosions, meanwhile, could not even break their skin.
And things like "electronic countermeasure systems" and "cyberwarfare packages" were simply wasted on the blind.
High technology getting beaten up by "primitives" was simply—
"They're a bunch of steel monsters—hm?"
A huge "human figure" suddenly flashed across
