Rewrite Chapter 40

Yesterday's single update was because I got stuck. Even though I forced myself to write 2,000 words, I still didn't think they were very good.

The more I thought about it, the worse they seemed.

I write books for everyone to read, but also for myself. If the plot doesn't make me eager to keep reading, then I feel like I haven't written it well.

I'm deleting and rewriting the plot below, replacing it with a different story and bringing the main focus back to the protagonist. I'll explain Lin Shen's storyline separately later.

I've only written 40 chapters, so there's no need to spend so much time on a supporting character. I was getting ahead of myself. I should focus on fleshing out the protagonist first.

Let me take some more care polishing the plot and making it as good as it can be. I hope you understand. There'll definitely be an update today.

Also, a gripe about certain readers: could you be a little less fussy? When the plot is mellow, you say it's boring. When I rack my brains to write suspense and twists in every chapter, you complain it's tiring to read and that there are too many plot threads.

What, do you expect me to fly to the moon?

I won't even mention that you're reading for free. Even if you paid for a massage, do you expect the masseuse to hit your sweet spot every single time?
