Kyle had always hoped he was overthinking things.
Because news came afterward: whether in Little Whinging or on Privet Drive, there had only ever been two Death Eaters from the very beginning—the two Tonks had lured away... or rather, they did not even count as Death Eaters.
After everyone left, Tonks returned to Privet Drive with several Aurors and arrested them. Not a single Death Eater came to help during the process.
The interrogation revealed that they had still been in Cornwall a few days earlier. Later, out of admiration for Voldemort, they had wanted to join the Death Eaters.
Keeping watch on Harry Potter had been the first task they received. In other words, the two of them were nothing but disposable cannon fodder who did not even need paying. They knew nothing, not even whom they were supposed to report to if something unexpected happened.
Because ever since arriving on Privet Drive, no one had contacted them again.
No wonder everyone had made it back safely. The Death Eaters had never gone there at all... Whether they had planned the route or used Portkeys to return, they had been trying to outwit thin air.
It was not just Kyle. The others also began to sense that something was wrong. The lively atmosphere instantly fell silent after Tonks finished speaking, and everyone seemed lost in thought.
"Isn't that a good thing?"
Ron, however, did not think much of it. He said happily, "It means the false information we put out worked. Voldemort must think we weren't going to take Harry away until the thirtieth."
Mundungus nodded beside him, clearly thinking the same thing. As far as he was concerned, it was good that there was no danger. Why worry about anything else?
But aside from Mundungus, no one responded.
