In the southern part of Romania lay a remote mountain range rarely visited by anyone. Its location was too secluded, and there was nothing interesting nearby, so hardly anyone ever came here.
Still, a few years ago, this place had briefly become lively.
After discussion, members of the International Confederation of Wizards had decided to establish a Dragon Sanctuary, and the site they chose happened to be here.
However, funding issues later caused construction on the Dragon Sanctuary to slow to a crawl before coming to a complete standstill.
After all, this was a place meant to raise dragons. The food they needed, the necessary protective measures, and the hiring of professional wizards all required an enormous amount of Galleons. Without money, the work naturally could not continue.
Take the most basic issue... caring for dragons required manpower, and ordinary wizards would not do. They had to be professionals who had undergone rigorous training.
Professional meant expensive.
Without a substantial salary, who would travel all the way to such a deserted place while risking being crushed flat by a dragon at any moment?
Oh, a few had come out of passion, but faced with the reality of going hungry more often than not, even they had begun to waver.
The only thing keeping them here was probably their pride.
When they had come, they had sworn that they would never give up just because they encountered difficulties. If they ran away now, would that not be a humiliating slap in their own faces?
They could not afford that embarrassment, so they could only grit their teeth and endure.
