As for the promised dragon-raising expenses and dragon eggs... even if he was still alive by then, he would have retired long ago. What the people who took over afterward did had nothing to do with him.
Birdman's change in attitude happened so quickly that Dumbledore, standing nearby, was dumbfounded.
He had no idea what had just happened. He had heard every word the two of them said, yet he simply could not figure out when their attitudes had changed so completely.
