After a long standoff, Kyle finally entered the Headmaster's Office with Grindelwald.
Although Grindelwald was deeply displeased, feeling that this was a suspicion and an insult to his character, Kyle's attitude was firm, leaving him no choice but to let him follow.
It could not be helped. Hogwarts was Dumbledore's most cherished place. If they started fighting here, the relationship they had only just barely repaired would surely fall apart again.
That was something Grindelwald could not accept.
"You're even more irritating than Scamander..." he said despite himself.
"Thanks for the compliment." Kyle, walking ahead without turning back, replied casually, "A lot of people have said that, but even more think I'm a law-abiding, well-behaved, outstanding wizard."
"Perhaps I should ask you how to use the Confundus Charm more effectively."
"Professor Dumbledore said the same thing."
"That's hardly surprising. Albus has always had terrible judgment. He even said Scamander was his favorite student."
"In Hogwarts' Trophy Room, I have the most Special Awards for Services to the School."
"I've also received Durmstrang's Best Gold Medal—nine of them, in fact."
"You know perfectly well how you got those honors." Kyle's face darkened.
Those gold medals had all been awarded unilaterally by Durmstrang during Grindelwald's heyday, when they had wanted to bask in his glory. They had even given him honorary alumnus status along with them.
And they had done it for nine consecutive years... shameless bastards. No wonder that thing Karkaroff could become headmaster... truly cut from the same cloth.
"Doesn't matter. I have them, and I definitely have more than you," Grindelwald said indifferently.
He had once thought Durmstrang was a little shameless too. He had not expected that thing to actually come in handy.
Bickering back and forth, the two soon reached the top of the spiral staircase.
