Forming a Four-Person Group

"Let me scan your code."

Lin Zichen opened WeChat's QR code scanner.

The twin-tailed girl excitedly opened her WeChat profile and held the QR code out to him.

Shen Qinghan watched from the side, pressing her lips together without saying a word. Her mood was a little low.

She knew Lin Zichen was helping her out, but that only made her feel even more useless.

She couldn't even bring herself to say her middle-school entrance exam scores.

She was nothing but a useless burden.

After adding the twin-tailed girl, Lin Zichen turned to his deskmate and said:

"He Yu, let's add each other on WeChat too."

His deskmate was a boy with a buzz cut, a sturdy build, and bright, alert eyes.

He Yu took out his phone, opened his WeChat profile, and held the QR code out to Lin Zichen. "You scan mine."

After adding each other, Lin Zichen created a small WeChat group and added Shen Qinghan, He Yu, and the twin-tailed girl, Li Chuxin.

Then he smiled and said to the three of them:

"Judging by where we're sitting now, we'll probably be in the same group from now on. I just made a group chat and added everyone."

He Yu smiled. "Sounds good. You're certainly quick to act."

Looking at the group chat, Li Chuxin suggested, "Why don't we give our group a name? How about Dawn Group? 'Dawn' as in daybreak."

A group of breakaways?

The name sounded a little odd to Lin Zichen.

But the other two didn't seem to notice the wordplay at all. They both said it was a pretty good name.

He Yu simply didn't care, thinking the group could be called anything.

As for Shen Qinghan, she just didn't have much of an opinion around people she didn't know. She only knew to go along with what everyone else said.

"Zichen, what do you think?"

Li Chuxin looked at Lin Zichen and asked.

Lin Zichen thought the name was a bit silly, but since no one else objected, he nodded. "I think it's pretty good too."

"Since everyone agrees, our group will be called Dawn Group from now on." As she spoke, Li Chuxin changed the group chat's name to "Dawn."

Seeing the two lines of text appear in the Void, Lin Zichen was a little surprised.

It seemed that this achievement for completing events through cooperation wasn't all that difficult. He didn't even need to go out of his way to work on it.

After all, even forming a four-person group had advanced the achievement's progress.

Then cleaning the blackboard together, sweeping the floor together, or taking out the trash together would surely advance it too.

In other words, this achievement was so easy anyone could do it.

After chatting for a while, they learned that—

He Yu wasn't from Shanhai City. He was from neighboring Nanguan City, where his family had run martial arts schools for generations. He was the young master of a martial arts family.

He'd come to Shanhai City for high school because his family planned to expand into the city. His parents were in charge of the project, and to make sure it went well, they'd both moved to Shanhai City. As their only child, he'd had no choice but to come along.

"He Yu, your family has run martial arts schools for generations, so you must be really strong," Li Chuxin guessed.

Heh, that's exactly what I've been waiting to hear!

He Yu was delighted inside, but on the surface, he remained calm and modest. "I'm doing all right. I'm just good enough not to disgrace my family. I got lucky and placed eighth at last year's Nanguan City Youth Martial Arts Tournament."

"Wow, eighth in the whole city! He Yu, you're amazing!" Li Chuxin said admiringly.

"Really impressive..." Shen Qinghan chimed in admiringly, though in her heart she thought Lin Zichen was the most impressive.

Lin Zichen played along too. "I can't believe we have a martial arts master in our group. If we run into anything we don't understand in martial arts class, we'll have to ask you for advice."

"No problem. Leave it to me!" He Yu agreed at once, thumping his chest.

Having the other three members of the group praise him like that felt great.

Especially with Shen Qinghan and Li Chuxin, two pretty girls, looking at him with admiration. It was so satisfying he could hardly get enough.

After enjoying the feeling, he looked at the three of them and asked, "By the way, what do your families do?"

Li Chuxin said, "My family runs clothing stores. We have several branches in the district."

He Yu immediately played along. "Well, would you look at that—a little rich girl! No wonder you're decked out in designer brands. I'm jealous, I'm jealous."

Li Chuxin smiled and waved a hand. "Come on, Young Master He, don't tease me. Your family's martial arts schools have expanded into other cities. I'm the one who should be jealous."

Then she looked at Lin Zichen and Shen Qinghan and asked curiously, "Zichen, Qinghan, what do your families do?"

Shen Qinghan replied a little awkwardly, "My mom and dad are both teachers. They teach regular academic subjects at high school."

"Teachers are great. Not only is the income steady, they're respected too. You come from a scholarly family!" He Yu praised her smoothly, all in the spirit of returning the favor.

Li Chuxin looked enlightened. "No wonder you're so good at your academic subjects. Both your parents teach them."

Then she looked at Lin Zichen and asked, "What about you, Zichen?"

Lin Zichen replied calmly, "My parents are both freelancers. They write web novels at home."

"Whoa, your parents are novelists!" He Yu was surprised. Then he asked curiously, "I like reading novels in my spare time. What kind do they write? I'll look them up."

Lin Zichen smiled. "I'll send the titles to the group. You can check them out yourselves."

After saying that, he sent all the titles to the group.

Shen Qinghan, his childhood friend, had read those books long ago.

She'd even taken it upon herself to act as a fan, creating a bunch of reader accounts and posting plenty of praise in the books' comment sections, things like "More chapters, I can't sleep at night," "So good, one more look and I'll explode," and "The writing is wonderful, and the plot is so satisfying."

Curious, He Yu and Li Chuxin opened the group chat to check the titles, then searched for them online.

After looking them up, He Yu did as he always did and offered some praise. "Not bad, not bad. The titles and blurbs are really appealing. I'll read some when I get home tonight."

Li Chuxin, on the other hand, was surprised. "Why are they all male-audience novels? Doesn't your mom write female-audience novels?"

Lin Zichen smiled and explained, "My mom used to write female-audience novels, but for some reason, she switched to male-audience novels later on. That's how she met my dad and had me."

"Wow, that sounds like such a fateful meeting." Li Chuxin looked envious, thinking how wonderful it would be if she could meet her future partner that way too. The thought made her heart flutter.
