Jacob Jones, a director from Investigation Bureau Headquarters, looked middle-aged, with faintly graying temples, a resolute expression, and deeply sculpted features. He personally handed Percy the letter of appointment, his voice stern. "Percy Anias, I have brought Headquarters' appointment. You have been promoted to captain of the Green Forest City Investigation Bureau's patrol team. Keep up the good work."
"For the glory of Invis!"
Percy lifted his head and squared his shoulders, clenched his right fist against his chest, and gave a solemn salute.
"Very good!"
Jacob returned to his seat. His distinctive amber eyes became mysterious and utterly placid as he picked up a folder from his desk. "What are your thoughts on Nicholas Inam's review report?"
"That Cleric's survival was full of coincidental factors. Although our investigation has confirmed that most of it was true, we still need to cooperate with occult investigations before reaching a conclusion."
Percy answered cautiously.
"You're vigilant. That's good..."
Jacob smiled. The last operation to intercept Roberts had inflicted enormous casualties on the local Investigation Bureau agents, especially the patrol team, which had been nearly wiped out. Otherwise, no matter how well Percy had performed, the position would not have fallen to him.
Though the young man was still somewhat green, Jacob seemed to see his former self in him.
After giving it some thought, he passed over an official document. "These are the divination conclusions from Headquarters' Diviner. Take a look."
Percy accepted it and immediately scanned the final lines. "Most of the testimony is genuine and reliable, though some details are slightly blurred. The descriptions of Roberts John Schaller, as well as his rank, are entirely true! It seems that Cleric Inam concealed something. Do we need to continue interrogating him?"
