Inside a mountain cave beside the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Qian Yu and Dugu Yan were asleep on a bed in an intimate pose. Qian Yu lay on top of Dugu Yan, and the two were wrapped in each other's arms.
After Dugu Bo had knocked him out, Qian Yu had once again started dreaming about that giant hammer.
"Dad, Mom, run! Little brother, little sister..." Qian Yu murmured in his sleep, tears streaming down his face.
"Ah!" After Dugu Bo had treated her, Dugu Yan's poison had been temporarily suppressed, but she was still weak and fast asleep.
Dugu Yan's head was swimming. When she opened her eyes, a handsome face filled her vision, and she thought she was dreaming.
But the heavy weight on top of her, along with Qian Yu's sleep-talking, jolted her awake. She screamed.
Dugu Yan shoved Qian Yu, sending him rolling off the bed. The pain snapped him awake at once.
Qian Yu first carefully scanned his surroundings. He found himself deep inside a cave. His Spirit Detection reached beyond it, and what he saw matched the descriptions of the Douluo Continent's number-one forbidden ground—the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. His heart leapt with joy.
"I finally made it here."
Only then did he notice Dugu Yan on the bed.
"Dugu Yan?" Qian Yu wondered why he was with her.
"Qian Yu, you bastard!" Dugu Yan checked herself. Thankfully, she was unharmed, but she still cursed him out.
"Divine Eye, what's going on?" Qian Yu was just as confused, so he could only turn to the Divine Eye for help.
The Divine Eye chuckled foolishly. "Kid, Dugu Bo thinks highly of your talent. He wants you as his grandson-in-law."
"Ah." Qian Yu was speechless.
Qian Yu was about to explain things to Dugu Yan.
"You're both awake." Dugu Bo had appeared in front of them at some point.
"You young people sure know how to have fun. You just met, and you're already sleeping together." Dugu Bo teased them on purpose.
If Qian Yu hadn't known what Dugu Bo was up to, he would have been forced to swallow this insult.
Dugu Yan, at least, had a fiery temper.
"Grandpa, kill him for me! He... he..." Dugu Yan turned to Dugu Bo, but she blushed and couldn't bring herself to finish.
"Kid, I'll give you two choices."
"First, I kill you, and no one will ever find out about this."
"Second, you become my grandson-in-law. All the wealth of me, Dugu Bo, a Titled Douluo, will one day belong to you and Yanzi. I also swear on my Martial Soul that I'll help you reach the peak of the continent."
Dugu Bo didn't rush him. He simply gazed at Qian Yu in silence.
Under Dugu Bo's stare, Qian Yu felt a chill run down his spine.
Dugu Yan had also figured out what was going on. Her grandpa had deliberately set this up to trap Qian Yu.
"Grandpa?" Dugu Yan shot Qian Yu a vicious glare, then clung to Dugu Bo's arm and acted coy.
Now that Dugu Yan looked at Qian Yu more closely, she noticed his handsome, refined face—pretty enough to look almost feminine—and his lean, well-built frame. He was, in short, a perfect catch.
Her cheeks flushed. "Most importantly, he isn't afraid of my poison."
Qian Yu seemed like a more suitable partner for her than Yu Tianheng.
"Heh." Seeing his granddaughter act coy, Dugu Bo laughed to himself. There's a chance.
"So, kid, have you made up your mind?"
Dugu Bo wasn't in a hurry. He quietly waited for Qian Yu's answer.
Qian Yu considered it. Any ordinary person would choose the second option.
Besides, he was burdened with a deep-seated vendetta and needed allies to grow stronger. He had no reason to refuse the help of a Titled Douluo.
But a certain silhouette surfaced in his mind.
Qian Yu snapped back to his senses.
"I'm sorry, Senior Dugu. I choose neither." Qian Yu answered without hesitation.
"You!" Dugu Yan looked ready to bare her teeth.
Dugu Bo gave a cold snort. "Kid, I'm only saying all this because you're young and talented. Don't mistake my patience for weakness and force me to act. I'm known across the world as Poison Douluo. I'm an expert in poison, and I have ten thousand ways to make you wish you were dead."
Faced with Dugu Bo's hard line, Qian Yu didn't back down.
He deliberately replied, "Senior Dugu, what if I told you I could completely cure the snake poison afflicting the Dugu Family?"
Qian Yu's mind raced as he recalled everything he knew about Dugu Bo. At last, he thought of a way out: offer to cure the Dugu Family's snake poison in exchange for his help.
Qian Yu wasn't making an empty boast. Setting aside the method mentioned in the original story, he now had the Divine Eye and could solve the Dugu Family's snake poison with Devour and Return. But he needed more bargaining chips.
"Kid, I've spent my whole life making and using poison, and I still can't escape the poison of my Martial Soul. You're a mere fifteen-year-old brat, yet you have the gall to claim you can cure my Martial Soul's snake poison completely. Do you know what happens to people who make a fool of me?"
As he spoke, Dugu Bo began to raise his hand to strike.
"If you don't believe me, Senior Dugu, ask your granddaughter. In today's match, I ignored her snake poison and defeated her."
Seeing Dugu Bo flare up, Qian Yu immediately offered proof.
"Is that true, Yanzi?" Dugu Bo looked at Dugu Yan.
Dugu Yan reluctantly nodded.
"Oh?" Qian Yu had piqued Dugu Bo's interest.
"Tell me exactly how you'd do it. If your method works, I won't just let you and Yanzi off the hook. I'll also grant you three requests."
Dugu Bo had been plagued by the poison of his Martial Soul, the Jade Phosphor Snake, all his life. He had lost his son and daughter-in-law in middle age, and in his later years the snake poison often tormented him until he was barely human. What worried him most was his granddaughter, Dugu Yan, who was already showing signs of being afflicted by the poison.
Faced with Qian Yu—the only lifeline he had—Dugu Bo was willing to pay a steep price.
"My first condition is to use the herbs here. Don't disturb me for a day." Qian Yu straightened his clothes and brushed off the dust.
"Come with me." Dugu Bo stared fixedly into Qian Yu's eyes, as if trying to find panic there. But Qian Yu's expression was perfectly calm, as though everything were within his grasp.
Dugu Bo led Qian Yu out of the cave and into a deep valley. At the bottom of the secluded ravine lay a spring, its surroundings shaded by ancient trees with gnarled branches that blotted out the sky. A thin layer of ice clung to the cliff walls, yet scorching white vapor rose from them. The central pool was starkly divided: on one side, freezing currents surged beneath floating ice, their bone-piercing chill reaching deep into the soul; on the other, boiling waves churned, their heat warping the very air. Exotic flowers and herbs crowded the shore, poison and vitality woven together. Where the two waters met, mist billowed, and the spiritual energy of heaven and earth surged.
"The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well." At the sight of the legendary well, Qian Yu shuddered and murmured to himself.
"Kid, you recognize this spring?" Now it was Dugu Bo's turn to be curious.
"Senior Dugu, do you remember the condition you agreed to? You can wait outside the cave now. Don't disturb me for a day." Qian Yu didn't explain. He simply asked Dugu Bo to honor his promise.
Dugu Bo gave Qian Yu a long, searching look, then led Dugu Yan toward the cave entrance. He wasn't worried that Qian Yu would escape. There was only one way out of the spring, and Dugu Bo had blocked the cave entrance.
Qian Yu wouldn't dare try anything clever with a Titled Douluo like him.
"Damn, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well! I can't believe something like this exists on the Douluo Continent." Even the Divine Eye couldn't help exclaiming in surprise.
