The prisoners rushing out of the elevator were briefly stunned by the corpses on the ground. Everyone's gaze focused on Tsugikuni Yoriichi's face. Looking at the young man holding a long sword, the criminals who had been imprisoned in Impel Down for who knew how long quickly began to stir.
Their yearning for freedom had overcome the fear in their hearts.
"Don't be afraid, everyone!"
"There are only a few of them, while we have so many people. No matter how strong these Marines are, they can't possibly stop us."
"Charge!!"
Amid the restless crowd, a prisoner raised his sword and shouted wildly. His roar successfully emboldened some of the more simple-minded people.
The prisoners pouring out of the elevator were all inmates from Level 1. Generally speaking, criminals in Level 1 had committed relatively minor offenses. Most of the people here belonged to small pirate crews, and many of them had never even made it onto a wanted poster.
Whenever the Marines wiped out pirates, they would also "incidentally" bring back all the pirates aboard the ship. Those weak and unknown pirates would be imprisoned on the uppermost level of Impel Down.
Buggy the Clown, one of the future Four Emperors, had once been held on the first floor of Impel Down. It was hard to say whether being judged fit for the first floor meant Buggy had done well or poorly for himself.
The lowest-ranking pirates were easily incited and deceived.
Very quickly, the crowd began to stir. Some pirates waved their long swords and roared as they charged straight at Tsugikuni Yoriichi.
In the prisoners' eyes, Tsugikuni Yoriichi was the easiest point to break through.
Why? Because Tsugikuni Yoriichi was young. Wasn't a young man who looked barely twenty easy to deal with?
Within the crowd, a
