The next morning.
Warm sunlight crossed the windowsill and spilled into the room. Military drill chants drifted in from outside from time to time. Cavendish murmured softly in his sleep and slowly opened his eyes.
"What is this place?!"
"Tsugikuni Yoriichi!!!"
Still groggy, Cavendish stared at the unfamiliar ceiling. After regaining his senses somewhat, he looked around the room.
It was a small room of less than ten square meters. The furnishings were extremely simple. Aside from the bed beneath him, there was only a desk and a chair by the window.
Cavendish's head felt foggy. It took him quite a while to remember what had happened before he lost consciousness. Tsugikuni Yoriichi's handsome face surfaced in his mind.
"I'm not in a cell?!"
"What happened?!"
Thinking of this, Cavendish instinctively tried to rub his eyes. But as soon as he exerted force with his hands, a faint clink came from the head of the bed, accompanied by a slight pain in his wrists.
Turning to look at the headboard, Cavendish suddenly discovered that both his hands were handcuffed to it.

No one answered for a long while.
Just as Cavendish drew a deep breath and prepared to shout again, the room's door was suddenly pushed open. A refined young man dressed in a loose martial arts uniform, his hair tied in a high ponytail, walked into the room.
Beside the young man were two children, a boy and a girl. The girl was slightly older, around ten years old, while the boy was much younger, with short, messy green hair and a sturdy, boyish appearance.
"No need to shout. Aren't we here?"
