Garp's booming voice startled everyone in the tavern. All of them turned in unison to look at Garp and Zephyr as they entered Cowboy Gate.
The people who drank at this tavern were mostly townsfolk, and they were quite familiar with Garp. After their brief surprise, delighted smiles appeared on their faces.
"Whoa! Mr. Garp, I didn't expect you to come back!"
"Luffy has missed you so much lately!"
Behind the bar, Makino was carefully polishing a wineglass. Hearing the voices, she looked up and broke into a radiant smile at the sight of Garp and Zephyr standing at the entrance. She patted Luffy on the head and greeted them.
At the bar, Luffy was sitting on a tall stool with a spoon in hand, shoveling seafood fried rice into his mouth. Hearing the voice, his body stiffened. Then he turned his head rigidly and looked behind him.
Looking at Garp's rugged, beaming face, there was not the slightest trace of joy on Luffy's face. Instead, he acted as though he had not seen him at all, quickly turning back and wolfing down his food as if afraid Garp would steal it from him.
Seeing Luffy like this, veins bulged on Garp's forehead. He crossed the distance in a few quick strides, arrived behind Luffy, and slammed a fist onto his head. "You brat, why aren't you greeting me?!"
Luffy's head tilted to the side. Under Garp's fist, his forehead bounced like rubber, and he did not feel any pain at all.
He lightly scratched his forehead, picked his nose, and casually called out, "Grandpa, why are you here?!"
