Background

The Lamenter was a mythical creature formed from the resentment of the world. Five thousand years before the main story, the Sword God killed and sealed it with the Seven Kill Blade. 429

Ademos characterizes it as a Legend born in the post-cataclysm era. Its sealed state becomes unstable after Chen Xi absorbs the Seven Kill Blade in Tianhai City, loosening the weapon's seal and allowing the Lamenter to awaken in a complete form. 270 429

Before its full descent, the Lamenter appears through nightmares. Transcendents killed by it in dreams wake without memories of the attacks, leaving others unable to recognize the danger until it has already progressed. 483

Destroying the phantom triggers its rebirth sequence. Chen Xi deduces that its second form ignores prior damage, then uses a new attack type and Andres's Burial of All Things to secure victory. 238 239

Final Defeat

In the final confrontation over Fulong City, the Lamenter draws Chen Xi and Lin Yue into the Death Duel Domain. Lin Yue defeats its weakened first form after a seventeen-day-and-twenty-one-hour battle, forcing the Lamenter into its reborn second form. 468
