Background
Gu Yu fled the Evil Flower organization with a support-focused Legend but was abandoned by her former companions, who intended to use her as bait for their pursuers. A passing Third-Rank Transcendent saved her, leaving her fearful of being treated as a burden again. 115
While seeking refuge aboard a ship, she chose to join Chen Xi, Lin Yue, and Zhu Li after learning that they intended to face the Evil Flower High Priest. Her ability to identify Transcendents and obscure enemy sight made her useful to the group despite her low combat power. 53
Gu Yu later encountered Chen Xi, Lin Yue, and Zhu Li outside the precognitive dream they had shared and joined their Dream Mutual Aid Association. Initially overwhelmed by Chen Xi and Lin Yue’s Fourth-Rank strength, she nevertheless agreed to travel with them toward the Central Fifteen Cities. 108
After admitting that she feared abandonment, Gu Yu received a blunt but meaningful answer from Chen Xi: the group would escort her only as far as Meiyu City, and she would ultimately need to become self-reliant. Gu Yu preferred this honesty to empty reassurance. 115
She revealed herself as a candidate Saintess of the Black Moon Church and became the group’s connection to the Black Moon Empire. Chen Xi and Lin Yue agreed to escort her toward Wufeng City in exchange for information about the empire and the wider world. 123
Gu Yu completed her Ascension Ritual in Wufeng City, then asked Chen Xi and Lin Yue to become her Contract Knights. Her growth continued through the God-Chosen Trial, where she maximized her Tier 2 Legend, reached Third Order through Quicksand, and obtained the Soul-Crying Snow Demon. 136 227 230 248
During the Saintess Selection, Gu Yu confronted her younger sister Gu Yao and the Holy Knight Charles. After defeating them, she spared them from lasting harm and covered the damages caused by their battle. 329 331
Following a later Regression, Chen Xi restored Gu Yu’s memories of their prior encounters. Gu Yu cut off the long blue hair she had grown after awakening the true Eye of the Galaxy, regarding it as no longer necessary. 473
Appearance
Gu Yu is a blue-haired young woman with bright, star-like or ice-colored eyes. Her appearance becomes notably more striking when her eyes are uncovered or her powers are active. 53 268
- Long, wavy blue hair during her time in the Black Moon Empire; she later cuts it short after recovering her memories. 268 473
- Dazzling eyes associated with the Eye of God and the Eye of the Galaxy. 244 268
- Often wears pale dresses or formal attire appropriate to her status as a Saintess candidate. 268 328
- Her Heart Frozen Under Ten Thousand Miles of Snow Domain can transform her surroundings into a snowfield. 329
Personality
Gu Yu is brave, kind, and resilient, but she is also afraid of death and vulnerable to feelings of inadequacy. Her former team’s betrayal left her highly sensitive to the possibility of being discarded, especially when she believes she contributes less than Chen Xi and Lin Yue. 115 273 483
She is honest when confronted, even when the truth is embarrassing or inconvenient. After the squad’s information is leaked, she admits that she had shared limited surface-level details with her family to discourage them from arranging a Contract Knight for her. 296
Despite her insecurity, Gu Yu is playful, expressive, and fond of theatrics. She enjoys attention as a prominent Saintess candidate, attempts to scare Chen Xi and Lin Yue for fun, and sometimes exaggerates her distress to receive affection or reassurance. 285 353 486
Abilities & Skills
Eye of Falling Galaxy / Eye of the Galaxy
Gu Yu’s original Legend is introduced as the support-oriented Eye of Falling Galaxy, later referred to as the Eye of the Galaxy. It develops into a highly versatile star- and illusion-based power. 53 205
- Identifies whether someone is a Transcendent and reads their general combat-style preference. 53
- At First Rank, can detect the magical power of Transcendents up to Tier 4; entities beyond that limit may appear as unreadable question marks. 108 126
- Creates a Galaxy Illusion Screen that obstructs enemy sight. 53
- Creates stars that can exist as both illusion and reality, allowing her to disrupt an opponent’s rhythm before turning intangible attacks physical. 231
- Her stars become more powerful while manifested as reality. 231
Starry Sky I Can Reach
Gu Yu’s personal Domain fills the area with a flowing starry sky and manifests illusory hands that act as extensions of her own. 153
- Draws targets toward stars through gravitational force. 153
- Manipulates stars to attack and erase the existence of living beings they touch. 153
- Inverted Reality makes stars physical and increases their power with repeated strikes. 153
- Falling Stars Upon the World is her Domain finisher: a meteor-shower attack assessed as comparable to a standard peak Third-Rank Domain finisher. 231
Void Fate and Predetermined Fate
After using Quicksand to raise her Legend rating, Gu Yu awakens two fate-based abilities. 251
- Void Fate — spends mana to forcibly raise the Void degree of a target within her sight. 251
- Predetermined Fate — as a target’s Void degree rises, it progressively loses its connection to the world. 251
Soul-Crying Snow Demon
The Soul-Crying Snow Demon is Gu Yu’s peak Fourth-Rank Legend. Its cold can directly affect the soul rather than merely freezing the body. 248
- Heart Frozen Under Ten Thousand Miles of Snow — a snowstorm Domain that turns the surrounding area into a frozen battlefield. 249 329
- Soul-Crying — freezes or chills an opponent’s soul, eventually impairing movement and combat ability. 248 330
- Creates snowmen and snowman soldiers for defense, containment, and ranged attacks. 249 330
- Her snowstorm can replace the defensive role previously served by the Hand of Glory. 318
- The soul-freezing effect can be resisted with preparation and magical protection. 248
Eye of God and God’s Descent
Gu Yu’s eyes are one of the six components of the summonable entity known as God. Chen Xi holds the Hand of God, while Shen Qingyue holds the Mouth of God. 244
- A pearl necklace given through Ailin allows Gu Yu to pray for God’s descent. 244
- The summoned God’s Rank depends on Gu Yu’s own strength and the number of connected God components. 244
- Her Death Duel Domain can forbid fighting, preventing a stronger opponent from activating their Domain. 304
- God’s Descent can only be invoked when she faces an evil-aligned creature in a desperate situation. 304 332
- She possesses a once-in-a-lifetime life-saving teleportation ability that can return her to the Black Moon Empire. 285
Equipment
- Hand of Glory / Glorious Gauntlet — defensive Divinity Equipment that produces a rose-red protective barrier; its protection is roughly Third-Rank level and became less necessary after Gu Yu mastered the Soul-Crying Snow Demon. 209 236 318
- Star Shift — leather bracer with a Yin-Yang jade pendant; allows Gu Yu to exchange positions with any star within her Domain. 223
- Pearl Necklace — enables prayer for God’s descent. 244
- Quicksand — valuable God-Chosen Trial currency used by Gu Yu to raise her Legend rating and reach Third Order. 230
Relationships
- Chen Xi — Gu Yu’s leader and closest companion, whom she calls “Boss.” Chen Xi’s blunt advice pushes Gu Yu toward self-reliance, while Gu Yu trusts her decisions even when she does not understand them. 115 290
- Lin Yue — companion and prospective Contract Knight. Gu Yu initially fears Lin Yue’s overwhelming power, but later relies on her guidance and approval. 108 136 273
- Zhu Li — Gu Yu is protective of Zhu Li and regularly comforts her by petting her head; Zhu Li calls Gu Yu “Mommy.” 329 332 338
- Gu Yao — younger sister and rival. Their relationship is shaped by jealousy, family resentment, and Gu Yu’s recovered power, though Gu Yu ultimately prevents Gu Yao from suffering permanent harm. 328 331
- Shen Mo — Gu Yu’s childhood friend and companion from the Black Moon Church. She defends him despite his arrogance and poor manners. 123 337
- Tang Xue — assists with Gu Yu’s Ascension Ritual and plans to fund Legend hunts to maximize Gu Yu’s Legend level. 150
- Ailin — explains Gu Yu’s connection to God and delivers the pearl necklace entrusted by Bai Ziqing. 244
- Charles — Holy Knight who allies with Gu Yao against Gu Yu during the Saintess Selection; Gu Yu defeats and captures him. 329 331

Trivia
- Gu Yu’s Legend occupies three slots, an unusual trait that contributes to the strength of her advanced abilities. 152 231
- She was originally conceived as a minor plot-guiding character, but her development expanded into much of the second volume. 483
- An earlier author concept would have made Gu Yu the princess of a fallen state in the Hengsha Federation rather than a Black Moon Church candidate Saintess. 483
