Without answering directly, Lin Yue burrowed under the covers, pulling the blanket over her mouth and leaving only her eyes peeking out to keep watch.
"I'm done playing. Let's sleep." Her voice was muffled beneath the covers, soft and drowsy.
Chen Xi cheerfully lay down beside her. "So I guessed right?"
"Whatever. It doesn't matter." The blonde girl turned away, seemingly impatient.
Chen Xi smiled and slowly wrapped her arms around Lin Yue's waist.
"What's with you? You're in such a fiery mood today."
Lin Yue held her breath, wanting to speak but stopping herself.
What good would telling Chen Xi all that do, besides making her worry...?
Lin Yue suppressed her restless emotions and returned to her usual tone. "You haven't even showered. Get out of bed!"
"I did." Chen Xi held the inside of her wrist beneath Lin Yue's nose. "Do I smell?"
Ever since she had mastered the Rain Lord, every time she used her ability, it was like giving herself a full-body cleanse.
Besides, no bacteria could escape the purifying flow of her water. Over time, Chen Xi had gotten used to not showering.
"You reek." Lin Yue raised the blanket and pushed her hand away.
"It's midnight. Let's sleep. We might have a nightmare later."
Only then did Chen Xi realize how quickly time had passed. Before she knew it, it was already late at night.
"Then what's the point of sleeping? Let's just wait for the Headless Shadow."
She opened the short-video app again and started scrolling.
The reason Chen Xi said that was because the Headless Shadow could forcibly drag people into its dream even when they were awake.
That was a rule an Transcendent had discovered only after being unable to sleep the next day and staying up all night.
