Stepping out through the doorway, Qiu Ye happened to notice the two of them.
"How did it go? Did you find any new clues?" Chen Xi asked casually as she approached.
"No." Qiu Ye looked a little disappointed. "It seems that because the Countermeasure Bureau isn't at the heart of this incident, many of the people and things connected to it weren't generated."
"Then let's go back. Staying here doesn't seem to serve much purpose anymore." Lin Yue watched the Countermeasure Bureau members conjured by the Trial Space and pondered.
"Yeah." Qiu Ye readily agreed.
She had only come to the Countermeasure Bureau to see if any of her old associates were there.
Unfortunately, the God-Chosen Trial's recreations were far too shallow.
It was like a computer with insufficient processing power. When faced with unimportant background programs, it would do everything it could to reduce the resources they used.
The three of them got into Lin Yue's Shadow Sports Car and were back at the same café in no time.
Since their friends' info panels were disabled during the trial, all they could do was wait quietly for the others to return.
The one silver lining was that, perhaps because the café was the trial's starting area, its customers and staff seemed almost as intelligent as Little Zhu Li. They could make decent coffee, at least, so the wait wasn't quite so unbearable.
Qiu Ye sat by the window in a corner, puffing on a cigarette to numb her nerves. Chen Xi and Lin Yue sat near the entrance, facing each other in silence.
"What are you thinking about?" Chen Xi asked, calling Lin Yue's attention as she swirled the Americano in her hand, still barely touched.
On a whim, she'd ordered an espresso Americano, something she'd never tried before.
