It was only after sitting up in bed that Chen Xi realized everything she had just experienced had been a nightmare.
"That scared me to death..." she panted in complaint. "Why have I been having so many dreams lately?"
She touched her forehead and found it covered in cold sweat.
With a long sigh, she habitually picked up the phone charging beside her bed.
In the darkness, the glow from the phone screen faintly outlined the girl's face.

In the early hours of the morning, the streets outside the window were silent.
Chen Xi sat blankly on her bed, still unable to recover from the nightmare.
Come to think of it, this was already the fifth time nightmares had plagued her this month.
"Should I go see a doctor?" Chen Xi wondered, reaching for the melatonin on her bedside table.
After hesitating for a long while, she finally picked up a tablet and swallowed it.
If she did not take it, there was no way she would have any energy for work tomorrow.
After tossing and turning, Chen Xi finally managed to fall asleep.
It was not until the first bright ray of sunlight slipped past Chen Xi's eyelids that the girl, her hair a mess, finally woke from her sleep.
Seeing that she was short on time, Chen Xi did not linger. After quickly washing up and getting ready, she hurried to the subway station to catch the morning commute.
At seven in the morning, the subway station was packed with people. Only after barely squeezing onto the second train and leaning against a handrail did Chen Xi get to close her eyes and rest for a while.
In the two years since graduating, she had long grown accustomed to this day-after-day, year-after-year routine.
