By the second half of her sentence, Lin Yue's soft, shy voice had risen to its highest pitch.
Only after blurting it all out in one breath did Lin Yue realize what she had just said. Her cheeks rapidly heated with embarrassment.
"That's not what I meant! No, no, no, no, no, it's not a date!!!" Lin Yue tried to explain, only to suddenly seize on a keyword and change her tune.
"It's shopping!"
As though she had grabbed a lifeline, Lin Yue repeated herself again and again. "Right, it's shopping. I just misspoke."
"Oh, is that so?"
A teasing smile curled at the corners of Chen Xi's lips. She did not continue provoking Lin Yue and returned to the driver's seat.
"Then let's go. We're going shopping."
Seeing that it was nearly six in the evening, Chen Xi suggested, "I heard there's a new event over on Bluestone Street lately. Let's go take a look there tonight."
"Wait a moment, I need to change clothes." As she spoke, Lin Yue tugged at the black trousers around her hips, stained with blood.
It was blood she had accidentally gotten on herself during her battle with the Silent Giant.
"Take me back to the dormitory, and let's meet at the entrance to Bluestone Street at seven tonight. How about it?"
"No problem, but are you sure the security guards won't notice you returning to the dormitory covered in blood?"
"Then I'll just climb over the wall and sneak in. Do I look like some obedient student?"
Night swallowed the world, while the streets glimmered with scattered lights.
Looking out at the scenery through the window while admiring her current outfit in the full-length mirror beside it, Chen Xi finally nodded in satisfaction.
The black-haired girl was dressed in a simple
