Background

Ye Qin came from a remote mountain gully and initially concealed those humble origins upon entering the Herb Gathering Hall at age eleven. Unlike his local fellow apprentices, he knew little of Zhuqi County and sought only a stable livelihood, while privately remaining concerned for his missing companion Da Niu. 9

During three years as a herb-gathering apprentice, he became known as calm, composed, and easy to get along with. As his attention turned increasingly toward cultivation, however, he withdrew from social life and acquired a reputation for coldness and aloofness. 26

His path changed after gaining access to the Purple Mansion and dealing with Nan Tianba’s primordial spirit. By trading White Glow for basic techniques, Ye Qin obtained his first spells, then devoted himself to cultivation rather than pursuing the martial path. 48 49 59

After reaching Immortal Fate City, Ye Qin developed as an independent rogue cultivator, pill refiner, and artifact user before joining the Green Pill Sect. He later became a Foundation Establishment cultivator, built a residence and medicinal garden on Green Spring Peak, and learned artifact forging from Elder Ge. 198

Ye Qin subsequently served as a Great Zhou Protector Immortal Master, travelled through the Chaotic Lands and East Sea, became chief alchemist of the Glazed Islands, and joined Purple Sword Palace. His recovery of the Kui Ox Drum and demonstrated combat ability led to his appointment as the palace’s Fifth Elder. 226 321 449 453

Appearance

Ye Qin is described as a young man by age twenty. He generally favors inconspicuous, practical clothing—most often plain green robes—and avoids outward displays of wealth or status. 181 226

  • Often wears the green robes of a Herb Gathering Hall or Green Pill Sect disciple. 67 200
  • Used a cloth face covering while fighting Xie Yun to prevent recognition. 52
  • Conceals defensive silk armor beneath ordinary sect robes when preparing for battle. 278

Personality

Ye Qin is cautious, calculating, and intensely focused on self-improvement. He habitually evaluates danger before acting, avoids being drawn into others’ disputes, and prefers resources or survival over prestige. His time as a rogue cultivator left him particularly aware that strength and preparation are his only reliable protections. 67 224 307

He keeps a low profile even after gaining considerable power. This restraint often leads enemies and allies alike to underestimate him, until circumstances force him to reveal his abilities. 189 300 394

Despite his reserve, Ye Qin is loyal to those he accepts as his own. He cares for his parents and village, helps old companions when possible, protects friends such as Shen Bao, and repeatedly supports Huangfu Binger’s cultivation. 88 213 357 455

Against hostile cultivators, Ye Qin can be decisive and merciless. He attempts to avoid needless conflict, but once threatened or pursued, he is willing to kill rather than leave an enemy able to retaliate. 175 233 435

Abilities & Skills

Five-Element Spiritual Roots

Ye Qin possesses all five elemental spiritual roots, allowing him to learn techniques of every element rather than being restricted to one affinity. 55

  • His spiritual-root potential is unusually high across all five elements; his wood root may exceed eighty points. 450
  • Mixed roots cause others to underestimate his cultivation prospects and spell specialization. 341
  • His five-element affinity is the basis for the Great Five Elements Sword Array. 400 452

Purple Mansion Cultivation

Ye Qin’s Purple Mansion contains the Floating Island and Life Primordial Spirit Stele, providing the foundation for his cultivation, spirit-plant growth, and dealings with primordial spirits. 49 90 194

  • Uses White Glow as a cultivation resource and once traded it to Nan Tianba for spell techniques. 48
  • Successfully grew Dew-Falling Grass within the Purple Mansion. 106
  • Can store the Copper Sand Alchemy Furnace within it. 106
  • Cultivates the Sitting-in-Forgetfulness Sutra, whose state-of-mind component helps resist illusions and heart-demon tribulations. 219 629

Martial Arts

Before dedicating himself to immortality, Ye Qin possessed unusually fast and precise basic martial techniques.

  • Gathering Qi and Focusing Spirit strengthened his recovery, vision, and agility. 20
  • His rapid side kicks severely injured Xie Yun in mid-air. 52
  • His extreme fist speed sealed Xie Yun’s acupoints and ended their final duel. 59
  • He deliberately abandoned martial-arts combat afterward to focus on cultivation. 59

Spell Techniques

Ye Qin began with basic utility spells, then expanded into five-element offensive and defensive techniques.

  • Spirit Eye Technique — Detects mana and spiritual objects. 49
  • Wind Control Technique — Grants rapid movement over dozens of feet, mainly for escape rather than combat. 48 52
  • Wind Blade Technique — His most proficient and flexible early offensive spell; used against Nan Tianba. 89 90
  • Lightning Strike Technique — Mastered alongside Wind Blade Technique during preparation to confront Nan Tianba. 89
  • Earth Spike Technique — Learned to understand and counter Nan Tianba’s earth-element arts. 89
  • Demon Shadow / Immortal Body Grand Art — Creates convincing duplicate images to confuse opponents; later developed into two dharma bodies, each holding roughly one-third of his power. 223 435 627

Space-Breaking Flash

Using his wing spirit artifact, Ye Qin can instantaneously move roughly fifty zhang, making the technique a crucial escape and repositioning method. 233 249

  • Evades attacks that would overwhelm him in direct exchanges. 233
  • Exploits an opponent’s preparation or attack motion to reposition behind them. 249
  • Requires the Bat King Wings or equivalent wing artifact. 207 273

Alchemy

Ye Qin is a highly skilled alchemist whose pill refinement becomes one of his most valuable assets.

  • Refined Dew-Falling Pills for cultivation and trade. 93 100
  • Used the Copper Sand Alchemy Furnace and earthfire to refine Foundation Establishment Pills. 193
  • Successfully refined sixth- and seventh-tier spirit pills to secure the Glazed Islands’ chief-alchemist position. 321
  • Refined Blood Spirit Pills for Bai Xiu’er and later sought rare herbs for the Spiritual Root Aptitude Pill. 341 357
  • Developed Origin Qi Pills, which he used to pay for commissioned minor-divine-ability artifacts. 646

Artifact Forging and Puppet Refinement

Ye Qin learned artifact forging from Elder Ge and steadily expanded his arsenal through personal refinement. 198

  • Forged the Southern Bright Li Fire Sword as a Primordial Spirit artifact. 238
  • Acquired four puppet-forging blueprints: Bronze-, Iron-, Silver-, and Golden-Armored Guards. 374
  • Repaired a ninth-tier Silver-Armored Guard using mithril and Golden Sand. 375
  • Forged and commissioned numerous flying swords to strengthen his sword-array combat. 637 646 656

Great Five Elements Sword Array

Ye Qin’s signature sword formation combines five Primordial Spirit flying swords aligned to metal, wood, fire, earth, and water.

  • Combines offense and defense and can withstand high-volume attacks from enemy sword arrays. 452
  • Its Heavenly One Nether Water Sword can conceal itself and strike unexpectedly. 452
  • Once all five elements were assembled, the formation made him exceptionally dangerous among Golden Core cultivators. 400 404
  • At the Nascent Soul stage, his Violet Sword Art can control eight flying swords as a complete formation. 668
