Since ancient times, tales of love between humans and demons had been praised by those fond of such things. Cangyuan had naturally laid plenty of groundwork for Ancient Abyss's story as well. Thus, when Xu Yuan had faced the Dragon Emperor White Emperor back then, he had looked forward to seeing how this world boss would perform. In the end, however, that anticipation had turned into an emotion that was simply hard to contain.

It was not that White Emperor, the boss, was easy. Among the hundreds of bosses in Cangyuan, White Emperor belonged to the very hardest tier. When Xu Yuan had first encountered him, he had fought him over and over for two hours before finally exhausting White Emperor to death.

What Xu Yuan found hard to take was that White Emperor's difficulty did not lie in an ingenious, ever-changing skill set, but in utterly and completely stacking numbers.

White Emperor's first two phases had no changes whatsoever in their skill sets; the numbers were simply raised. Even if players maxed out their defense and health, taking a full combo would still send them straight to reincarnation.

By the final third phase, Xu Yuan had thought there ought to be some changes. After all, great demon-type bosses generally revealed their true forms at the end. At the very least, there should have been some transformation, like showing a dragon tail.

But in truth, there was none.
