History
Under Shiki’s command, the Flying Pirates became a major New World force. He gathered more than a dozen renowned pirates under his banner and used his Float-Float Fruit to create a territory of floating islands. His enormous ship, marked by a golden lion figurehead, ordinarily remained on the sea because Shiki believed a pirate ship belonged on the water 104.
Before Roger’s execution, Shiki attacked Marine Headquarters and was imprisoned. He later escaped, vanished for years, and the Flying Pirates disbanded 386.
A gang leader was subsequently seen wearing the Flying Pirates’ mark, prompting suspicion that Shiki was preparing a comeback 386. When Shiki established a new “Sky Empire” above the East Blue, his old officer Indigo remained with him, but the Flying Pirates’ major officers and vast fleet were gone. His new followers were described as far weaker than the crew at its peak 389.
