The cannon was still the same old cannon, 120mm caliber, exactly like the one they had used in Afghanistan.
"Why is it still this one?" There was actually a hint of disdain in Hong Fei's voice.
"Take a good look. This is a cannon! Do you think it's a gun? How big do you want it? Should I haul over the Gustav Cannon for you?" Frank rolled his eyes so hard they nearly reached the sky.
Hong Fei grumbled, "Heh, this thing still looks a little too small-time. Sooner or later, I'm getting my hands on a real big cannon!"
Frank could not even be bothered to respond.
After watching for a while, Hong Fei said, "Move it out. Go farther away—the address has already been sent to you. I'll have Wesley bring Kingpin there. Once the target is confirmed, I'll give you the signal. Don't hesitate under any circumstances. The instant you get the order, fire."
"Don't worry. But are you sure no civilians will get hurt?"
Hong Fei sneered. "In the dead of night, do you think just anyone can get near Kingpin's warehouse? Fire away. Anyone blown to pieces there won't be innocent."
"I still think we should strike directly at the heart of it. With our abilities, we can kill him head-on."
Hong Fei said, "Brute! Do you think he's alone? If he can't beat you, he can still run. If one shell can solve it, why make things so troublesome?"
Before the sun had fully risen, Frank drove the mortar out of the city in a small truck, while Hong Fei turned around and called Wesley.
"Eleven tonight. The warehouse at the foot of the western mountain. I don't care what method you use—bring Kingpin there. Otherwise, tomorrow will be the anniversary of your death." Without waiting for Wesley to react, Hong Fei hung up.
After returning home, he set an alarm and fell into bed for some more sleep, waking again at dusk.
Taking his black outfit, mask, and sniper rifle, Hong Fei drove into the outskirts. After changing in a dense forest, he used the cover of the descending night to approach the warehouse at the foot of the mountain.
Lying prone in the woods more than three hundred meters away, Hong Fei began watching the warehouse without moving.
At the moment, nothing seemed unusual about the warehouse. Aside from the occasional security guard, there appeared to be no outsiders, and the place was piled high with lumber.
At nine o'clock, urgent sirens drew closer from afar as several police cars suddenly arrived.
In an instant, Hong Fei spotted over a hundred people emerge from every corner of the warehouse. But soon afterward, one person waved them back into hiding.
More than ten officers got out of the cars without a word. They first secured everyone present, then immediately began searching the premises.
But over half an hour later, the officers walked out of the warehouse with unwilling looks on their faces. Clearly, they had found no valuable leads.
Once the police cars left, Hong Fei saw the manager immediately take out his phone.
There was no need to think about it. This had to be Wesley's doing. If he wanted to draw Kingpin out with absolute certainty, it had to be something major.
Nothing was more serious than the police suddenly showing up at the warehouse.
That was because this warehouse held the largest share of Kingpin's goods, as well as the only factory he currently possessed.
As for the consequences of doing this?
Smart as Wesley was, he definitely knew why Hong Fei wanted to lure Kingpin out. In fact, if Hong Fei did not act, Wesley himself would probably have made a move.
After all, only a handful of people knew how important the warehouse was. The people working there would never report themselves, leaving even fewer suspects. Sooner or later, Kingpin would trace it back to Wesley.
At ten-thirty, the warehouse went on lockdown. The people hiding underground began to emerge, every one of them armed—and not with handguns. There were even Sniper Riflemen and RPGs among them.
With a force like that, forget someone deliberately causing trouble. Even if the police really came to storm the place, they would probably leave in defeat.
Hong Fei became even more certain that he had made the right choice.
Killing from afar with a sniper rifle was indeed a good idea, but Kingpin could not be judged by ordinary standards. What if he really managed to evade it? If the first shot missed, getting another chance would be difficult. And with the other side's heavy firepower, they might even send a rocket-propelled grenade back and blow him away.
So sniping still lacked a measure of certainty.
A cannon was different!
Long range, high speed, wide kill radius.
Didn't Kingpin boast that more than ninety percent of his body was muscle, that he possessed the highest level of human combat power?
Then I won't shoot you. I'll just bombard you with a cannon, all right?
As Peter would say, this was the bare minimum of respect I could show you!
At eleven o'clock, the tightly sealed warehouse welcomed its true master.
After a luxurious convoy drove in, Wesley stepped out first. Then a thick, powerful leg emerged, followed by a burly bald man whose physique was beyond ordinary human proportions.
There was almost no neck beneath that enormous head; it connected directly to his massive torso. The contours of bulging muscles were faintly visible beneath his suit, and he held a black cane in one hand.
With a body like that, finding a stand-in would not have been easy. What was more, a chilling savagery lurked within his eyes.
Among the crowd of suited men, Hong Fei also spotted the young Hall. Hall followed at Wesley's side with his head bowed and shoulders lowered, entirely unlike the arrogant figure he had been before Hong Fei.
Hong Fei dialed the phone while aiming his sniper scope at Wesley.
The moment Frank's voice came through the earpiece, he gave the order. "Fire."
A thunderous boom immediately rang through the earpiece. Frank had clearly been ready for a long time.
Frank was five kilometers away, but the shell flew so fast that it almost reached the site before the sound of the cannon fire.
Shinigami Eye activated instantly.
The sniper scope immediately shifted to Kingpin. When the shell screamed over the warehouse, the high-explosive round's timed fuse detonated. The explosive charge within was ignited by the detonator, and the intense heat and pressure instantly tore apart the steel casing. Dense clouds of scorching, razor-sharp fragments erupted outward at supersonic speeds!
Through Shinigami Eye, Kingpin was the first person present to notice something was wrong and look up.
But noticing did not mean he could evade it.
Faced with a supersonic strike, Kingpin could not even raise an arm.
Hong Fei watched silver fragments tear through his skin, burst through his muscles, slice apart his bones, enter through his forehead, and fly out the back of his skull.
Other fragments bored into his eyeballs and embedded themselves in his throat.
His bulletproof suit proved of little use. The fragments still tore through every obstacle like dry rot, streaking into the ground with sprays of blood.
It was not just Kingpin. Everyone near the warehouse suffered more or less from the cutting fragments.
The shockwave followed close behind. High-pressure, high-speed airflow reaching tens of thousands of pascals instantly pinned Kingpin's sieve-like body to the ground. His shattered bones could no longer support his flesh, and his body became a pile of mangled meat in the blink of an eye. Flames swept forth immediately afterward, igniting everything in their path—steel, soil, severed limbs, and torn arms alike.
Before the gruesome scene could even be exposed, it was swallowed by blazing flames.
Hong Fei lowered the sniper rifle and deactivated Shinigami Eye. The fading explosion crashed into his eardrums, and he immediately ducked his head low as the shockwave swept over the back of his skull with a howling roar.
Boom! Boom!
Two more cannon shots sounded through the earpiece. Hong Fei kept his head down and did not move.
Soon, three booming reports rolled across the sky one after another, echoing back and forth without end.
Three high-explosive shells detonated in succession. The flying fragments battered the warehouse into a pockmarked ruin, and under the cleansing force of the shockwaves, the building rapidly collapsed. At the same time, waves of air blasted the raging flames high into the heavens.
