Sanctuary II.
The entire Dark Fleet was on its way to Earth.
After Thanos returned with Ebony Maw and Gamora, Ebony Maw tactfully found an excuse to leave, giving the father and daughter some quiet space.
Gamora glanced at Thanos's throne above, then looked around. Her expression darkened.
Thanos said beside her, "You're home. Aren't you happy?"
Gamora did not hide her feelings. "Not at all. I hate this place, hate this damned ship, and hate that throne of yours sitting so high above everyone else!"
Thanos was not angered. Looking at the enormous throne, he said, "I had always hoped to see you sit on it with my own eyes."
His tone was utterly sincere, without the slightest hint of pretense.
"I never will," Gamora said mockingly to Thanos.
Thanos met her gaze. "I didn't know before, but I know now. Still, things may be different in the future. You are my daughter. I know you have that potential."
"I'm not!" Gamora shouted. She turned away and put distance between herself and Thanos. "I was so young when you took me away from my home. I remember it very clearly!"
Thanos walked to the steps and slowly sat down.
"I saved your homeland," he replied flatly.
"You killed half its people!"
"That was a necessary measure. You should learn what happened afterward. When you were young, you lived on that planet unable to get enough food or warm clothes every day. You could only survive by scavenging through trash. But after I left, newborn children on that planet no longer had to worry about going hungry. They could grow up happily and carefree beneath blue skies and beside clear waters."
"But they will never forget the half who died! Those were their parents and children, their friends and family!"
