At that moment, Minato Namikaze hurried over.
By the time he arrived, nothing but wreckage remained outside the collapsed cave.
Qingyu was just about to get up and leave.
Kakashi stood silently behind him. The newly transplanted Sharingan in his left socket was still faintly bloodshot, with two tomoe slowly rotating within its pupil.
Rin Nohara silently rinsed her bloodstained hands with water from her flask.
Might Guy, Hyuga Ginka, and Genma Shiranui kept watch over their surroundings, making sure no new enemies approached.
When she saw Minato Namikaze approach, Rin Nohara opened her mouth to say something, but her eyes reddened before the words could leave her lips.
"Minato-sensei—"
Her voice was thick with tears.
Minato Namikaze quickly walked over to her and asked what had happened.
"Where's Obito?"
Minato Namikaze asked.
Kakashi lowered his head and clenched his fists.
"—Obito died."
Kakashi said.
"He's buried down there."
Kakashi raised a hand and lightly touched the stitches beneath his left eye, which still throbbed faintly.
"This was Obito's last gift to me. He wanted me to become his eye and keep watching the shinobi world for him."
Minato Namikaze was shocked and filled with guilt.
Obito actually died—
Was this mission too difficult after all?
Minato Namikaze sighed inwardly. He could no longer maintain his gentle expression, and sorrow overtook his face.
He looked toward the ruins of the completely collapsed cave.
Rubble had piled into a small hill, and cracks ran from the foot of the mountain to its summit. The entire mountain had been deformed by the battle.
"I see."
Minato Namikaze took a deep breath, then opened his eyes.
"When Ōnoki's Rock Fist came down, Obito pushed me out of the way. If it weren't for him, I'd be the one buried down there."
Kakashi continued.
