Though the two descriptions sounded similar, and their abilities were roughly alike—both granting weapons the power of Devil Fruits—
there were still certain differences. The latter could display a richer range of abilities, and if this form of expression were applied to another kind of creature, it could be called a Darkin.
Darkin referred to the fallen Ascended. The Ascended who had participated in the war to seal the Void had suffered tremendous losses, and even the survivors had been contaminated by Void energy.
While the Shuriman Empire still existed, these Ascended could keep themselves under control. But when the last emperor, Azir, encountered a problem during his Ascension ritual, was betrayed by Xerath, and had the power of the Sun Disc stolen, Shurima fell, and the Ascended lost control as well.
Without Shurima's royal bloodline, the Ascended had no leader. They acted independently, and under the influence of Darkin energy, became even more brutal.
In the end, they transformed from protectors into destroyers of the continent and became known as the Darkin.
That "despicable" "papaya Starborn" helped humanity seal them away, confining the Darkin within weapons. Though this resolved the Darkin crisis, those weapons still possessed the ability to corrupt their wielders.
If people came into contact with these Darkin weapons, the Darkin would revive.
Of course, these were merely Devil Fruits, so nothing that exaggerated would happen.
Vegapunk's side had already made breakthroughs in getting weapons to "eat" Devil Fruits back during MADS. If there was any difference between Oran's current experiment and past projects, it was that there were two swords.
There were not many people who could make Oran fight personally. After meeting that condition, there
