Following the incantation in the Alchemy Canon, Xiao Yu silently recited it in his heart. Then, he pressed his thumbs together and turned his index fingers outward, forming a strange hand seal. At dawn, glaring sunlight shone in through the window and fell across Xiao Yu's face. Before the tightly closed eyes of Xiao Yu stood a white alchemy furnace one inch tall, condensed from the Bone Spirit Cold Flame.

With a soft creak, the doors of the Dou Qi Pavilion opened. Xiao Yu looked over and saw that it was actually his father walking out from within.

"Father?"

"Mm!" A hint of a smile appeared on Xiao Zhan's honest face. "Today is the day you enter the Dou Qi Pavilion. Naturally, I have to be here as well!"

Xiao Yu nodded without speaking. Xiao Zhan continued, "You already know the rules for entering the Dou Qi Pavilion, so I won't waste words. Let's test your attributes first, then go choose a Dou Qi cultivation method!"

Xiao Zhan shook his head. "How could that be? I just checked it. How could it be broken?"

So Xiao Yu felt around the Crystal Ball again, but it still showed no reaction. He reached out and patted it, muttering speechlessly, "Hey, at least give me some kind of response, will you? You're making me look really bad!"

No matter how Xiao Yu stroked or patted it, the Crystal Ball refused to give him any face at all. Xiao Zhan frowned in confusion as he removed the Crystal Ball and replaced it with another one. Looking at Xiao Yu with complete certainty, he said, "There definitely won't be a problem this time. Try it!"

Refusing to believe it, Xiao Yu placed his hand on it again. Half a minute passed, yet there was still no movement whatsoever!

"What's going on?" This time, both Xiao Zhan and Xiao Yu were completely stunned. Not only had Xiao Yu never seen such a situation, even Xiao Zhan had never encountered it before!

Just as the two were at a loss, a sudden breeze swept past them. Then two ghostlike figures appeared before Xiao Zhan and Xiao Yu.

The two figures were entirely concealed beneath black robes. Only a somewhat grating syllable drifted from within them. "Mm."

The black-robed Elder circulated the Dou Qi within his body. Just as Xiao Yu worried that the secrets within him had been discovered, the black-robed Elder spoke. "His fire attribute is weak, and he essentially has no attribute. Without giving Xiao Yu and Xiao Zhan time to react, the two Elders vanished from where they stood, as if they had never been there. Yet their words were like heavy hammers crashing into the hearts of Xiao Zhan and Xiao Yu!
