Cai Die looked at the docile giant snake before her and slowly reached out to stroke its head. To everyone's surprise, a trace of satisfied, human-like emotion appeared in the giant snake's emerald-green eyes!
Cai Die asked the giant snake, "Can you take us over there?"
The giant snake seemed to understand Cai Die's words. It turned and raised its massive body out of the lake. Cai Die said to Xiao Yu, "Let's go!"
Still somewhat dazed, Xiao Yu followed Cai Die onto the giant snake's back. The snake then slowly carried them toward the island at the center of the lake.
Within a few breaths, Xiao Yu and Cai Die had reached the small island in the middle of the lake. The giant snake propped up its body and looked at Cai Die, lowering itself slightly toward her as its scarlet tongue flicked out. Cai Die reached out and stroked its head once more, and only then did the snake sink contentedly beneath the lake.
Xiao Yu could not help sighing. "It seems the power of your bloodline is truly formidable."
Cai Die smiled faintly without saying anything, though a trace of confusion flickered in her eyes. However, Xiao Yu had already turned to inspect the island and failed to notice anything unusual about her.
The island was not very large. It was surrounded by trees, flowers, and grass, lush and verdant in appearance.
