This Humble One is the seeker known as Orchid Pavilion Scholar.
Missed out on a fortune—I want to kill someone!
Orchid Pavilion Scholar glared at the mountain-cleaving blade he had just pulled from his wooden gourd, his killing intent surging.
Just then, he caught sight of the messages from other seekers on the scroll, and the corners of his mouth curled up.
A target to vent his frustration on has arrived!
Heart Without Darkness: "@Master of Cloud Stack Cave, how did you obtain the silver gourd? What is inside? Could you share your resources with everyone?"
Heart Without Darkness sent an earnest, well-meaning emoji: "None of us know why we entered this Journey Survival, and there are likely many crises ahead. I suggest we share resources and information, and band together to survive..."
As soon as his words appeared, the scroll went silent.
Orchid Pavilion Scholar grinned: "Can you share your wife, too?"
Heart Without Darkness: "? Why the insults? We don't know where we are; isn't it only right that we band together for warmth?"
Orchid Pavilion Scholar: "Band together your grandfather! You're just greedy for someone else's silver gourd and want their stuff, right? Why stand on such a high moral ground? Aren't you afraid of falling and breaking your neck?!"
Heart Without Darkness: "Why must you be so dark-hearted? In a strange environment, isn't banding together the logical thing to do?"
Orchid Pavilion Scholar laughed and tapped the scroll to record a voice message: "My cart is a piece of junk and can't go fast. Why don't you dismantle the parts from your cart and 'band together' with me!"
Heart Without Darkness fell silent.
This man calls himself a scholar, but he is nothing but a brute who bites anyone he sees. Better to ignore him!
He turned his attention to the Master of Cloud Stack Cave and selected private chat: "Friend, could you share what is inside the silver gourd? I have also opened a gourd. If you are willing, we could build a shared warehouse to store and use our findings together."
Only after he finished editing did he realize he had been blocked; the message could not be sent.
Heart Without Darkness was dumbfounded. What the hell! How selfish!
He resentfully put away the scroll and lashed his camel with a whip, urging it to move faster.
Since this is a survival journey involving daily travel, surely there must be rewards for finishing the task first?
Crack! Crack!
Two more lashes.
If I finish the task first, will I be rewarded with a better gourd?
Where did that Master of Cloud Stack Cave get his silver gourd? Why is it that he only ever encounters wooden gourds?
Zhu Jiusi blocked seven or eight people in a row. They were all freeloaders standing on high moral ground, wanting him to share his belongings.
One after another, these saints would say things like, "It doesn't matter if you give it to me, just give it to those in need..."
"Let's band together for warmth and consider the big picture..."
Sorry, I am not part of your "big picture," and you are not part of mine.
People like this are extremely common in the early stages, especially after the seven-day protection period ends. Survival pressure hits all at once, yet everyone still clings to their former moral values.
Many people stand on moral high ground playing the saint. Countless others have suffered in silence because of it.
Once enough time passes and two or three batches of them die off, it will be fine. Whether they are true saints or fake ones, they will all disappear.
Zhu Jiusi stretched his body and continued to trot forward, clip-clop, clip-clop. As he ran, he kept sniffing the air.
His vision as a wild boar was mediocre, but his sense of smell was truly exceptional. With a deep breath, he could clearly smell everything buried under the mud in the forests on both sides.
He jogged along while watching the scroll.
Having just entered Journey Survival, most people still didn't know what was happening, and a group of them had yet to feel a genuine sense of crisis.
Some were even so excited they couldn't control themselves, believing they were destined for greatness.
Smelling the Rose: "Already turned into a tiger. Someone come fight me, let's test my skills!"
Monkey Has Iron Rod: "Need a doctor! I'm actually broken! These two horses pulling the cart are too violent; every bump hurts like hell."
His cart actually has two horses!
Heals Stomach Not Body: "No doctors here, we're a cook!"
White Beard's Fist: "A cook? Then do you have food? I was defending my title at the hunger-resistance competition, and then I ended up here..."
The scroll went quiet again.
Now that is a truly pitiful child. It has been nearly two hours since entering Journey Survival. Anyone who was hungry is starving by now.
Heals Stomach Not Body: "Only a kitchen knife."
White Beard's Fist: "Need food, I can trade!"
He sent a message with an image of a monocular telescope.
"Crude Clairvoyant, effective range of three miles, can see the rough outline of objects larger than five feet."
Everyone: "..."
Is there any difference between having this telescope and not having it at all?
It could see clearly for three miles even without using it!
After more than two hours, everyone had realized just how important food was here. No one would trade food for such an item.
Monkey Has Iron Rod: "Seeking a doctor!"
Zhu Jiusi's eyes lit up. He opened a private chat with White Beard's Fist and sent an image of a steamed bun.
"Two steamed buns for the Crude Clairvoyant, deal?"
White Beard's Fist: "It's the Cave Master! Deal, deal, deal!"
When starving, let alone two buns, he would trade it for half a bun. This thing was truly useless to carry around!
As he replied, the scroll prompted a trade, and the image of the telescope flickered.
Zhu Jiusi tossed two buns in and confirmed the trade.
With a crisp clink, the Crude Clairvoyant dropped into his inventory.
This was a good item. Having suddenly transformed into a wild boar, his vision had dropped significantly; he couldn't even see things clearly beyond thirty meters, which was extremely disorienting!
A telescope produced by Journey Survival could compensate for vision—if it said it could see large objects within three miles, then it certainly could! It would not be affected by the wild boar's own limitations.
Even a blind person could see things through this telescope.
Furthermore, there were many hidden locations in Journey Survival that required special equipment to discover.
The telescope was one such piece of equipment; later on, the price of refined telescopes would be terrifyingly high.
The only problem was that he had no hands now, making it extremely difficult to use a telescope.
Choosing to be a Demon Cultivator meant having a truly beastly body. To regain a human form, one needed both their nature and life essence to break through two hundred and condense a Demon Core before there was any chance.
Zhu Jiusi tucked the Crude Clairvoyant into his inventory. He glanced at the scroll casually and continued to trot forward.
His control over his body was becoming smoother. After all, he was still on solid ground; it wasn't like being a bird and having to learn how to fly from scratch.
Actually, being a bird cultivator wasn't too bad. There was someone even more unfortunate in the lobby.
Rain Seeker: "Great masters, has anyone chosen Demon Cultivator? What do I do now that I've turned into a fish?"
"I started in a pond, and now I'm stuck in this small pond! I see on the scroll that I have to travel fifty miles today, how am I supposed to do that?"
White Beard's Fist: "Many thanks, Cave Master! These buns are delicious! As for the one above... you're a Demon Cultivator, can't you fly?"
Sympathy for three seconds.
Zhu Jiusi remained silent for a moment before replying in the lobby: "Jump out of the pond and hop forward! Since it's called Journey Survival, it wouldn't leave you with absolutely no way to live. Perhaps the answer lies in what you find along the way."
He wasn't just saying this randomly. This was a pattern he had summarized from the last time. Journey Survival would never leave you without a glimmer of hope; it all depended on whether you could seize the opportunity and whether you were willing to risk your life.
Rain Seeker: "Great master, if I jump out, there's no water. Won't I suffocate?... Huh? I actually won't!"
On a small path, a large carp was flopping along with a thump-thump sound.
