"Anbu? Did Minato-sensei order this?" Yang Xing understood clearly that, aside from a select few, no ordinary person could mobilize a high-ranking operative like this.
The Anbu officer did not answer Yang Xing's question, merely bowing low. "Lord Yang Xing, there is someone who wishes to see you. Although I cannot tell you who it is right now, I can guarantee that this person has no intention of causing you any harm."
"Oh? They want to see me? Why?" Yang Xing was intrigued. It seemed this person understood his strength—perhaps even more thoroughly than Minato Namikaze did. They might even know about his Sharingan, which made him grow a few degrees more vigilant.
"Lord Orochimaru was defeated by you. Your strength is enough to make anyone in Konoha want to get close to you." The officer looked up; the cat mask hid any expression, but the tremor in his voice betrayed his excitement. "If you truly understand what I mean, I wonder if you would be willing to come with me to meet that person."
He hadn't expected the news of his victory over Orochimaru to leak. It couldn't have been Anko who spread the rumor, which meant a traitor within Konoha had done the deed.
Yang Xing curled his lip in a smirk and couldn't help but ask, "If I go to see him, what's in it for me?"
"Anything! If you are willing, name your conditions!" The man was so agitated that his words were deadly serious.
Yang Xing lowered his head in thought, rubbing his chin for a long while before looking up with a smile. "Fine. Give me your boss's position, make him my subordinate, and I'll agree."
"Huh?" The officer froze. In that moment of shock, his tone turned noticeably cold. "You aren't joking, are you?"
Yang Xing dropped his smile, his tone turning stern. "Go back and tell that guy: if he's willing to be my subordinate, I might consider it. Otherwise, no way. And tell him to stop having me followed, or he's going to lose some very important personnel."
With a sharp turn, Yang Xing leaped onto the roof, his extraordinary agility carrying him away in an instant.
Watching the figure depart, the high-ranking Anbu officer stood up, his expression grave.
"It seems this brat is even more formidable than imagined." He muttered to himself before turning to leave without further thought. "Lord Danzo, I wonder how you will handle this. This brat is your greatest threat now. Even Minato Namikaze thinks so highly of him, and Orochimaru is no match for him. With him in Konoha, he will become a threat to you. Let's see what you intend to do."
Returning home, Yang Xing was just about to enjoy a good night's sleep.
A knock sounded at his door.
Yang Xing was furious, and the consequences were severe.
"Who is it?" Yang Xing strode forward and yanked the door open, his face twisted in annoyance. "Those guys really don't know when to quit. Looks like I really need to teach them a lesson."
"Um, Yang Xing? Why are you holding your hand up like that?"
Opening the door, it was clear that the person outside was not some Anbu traitor.
Instead, it was Rin Nohara, dressed in casual clothes that looked quite lovely on her. Her petite frame was set off by the clean fabric, creating a bright and beautiful sight. Judging by the beads of sweat on her forehead, she must have rushed over the moment she got home and changed.
"N-nothing. There was a mosquito in the room, and I was trying to swat it. Hahaha, it just flew away when I opened the door." He rubbed his head, realizing his mistake, and could only offer a dry laugh. He lowered his hand and changed the subject. "Rin, what brings you here?"
"Well, I made a bit too much curry at home. I thought that since you live alone, Yang Xing-kun, I'd bring some over for you." The container Rin held was beautifully wrapped, and her sweet smile, paired with the unique markings on her face, was truly moving.
He seemed to recall that the distance from his home to the Inuzuka Clan compound was over a mile.
Yang Xing was genuinely touched—truly moved. He suddenly felt the urge to pull this girl into his arms and give her a kiss.
Of course, that was just a thought!
"Thanks." Yang Xing gave a faint smile and took the box.
"It's nothing." Rin smiled, standing at the doorway without moving.
Yang Xing: "..."
Watching Rin stand there with no intention of leaving, Yang Xing could only cough awkwardly and force a smile. "Um, do you want to come in and sit for a bit?"
"Then I'll intrude." Her beautiful eyes sparkled, as if she had been waiting for him to say just that. Rin entered with incredible speed, proactively kicking off her shoes and walking into his bedroom in her socks.
Inviting a wolf into the house—no, inviting a rabbit into the cage.
Yang Xing was nervous. This was the first time a female creature had entered his bedroom, even if she was just a little girl not yet twelve.
But a little girl nonetheless.
And Rin, dressed up like this, possessed an unexpectedly cute and charming allure.
The length of her calves, the delicacy of her figure, and those little mounds on her chest.
Wait, what am I thinking? I need to be calm, stay calm—my sanity!
As he watched Rin enter the room and sit down, Yang Xing's heart began to race—really, really fast.
This, this... what should I say? Or
