After listening to Grey's account, Qin Mo stood with his back to him, silent for a while.
The materials, too, were not being controlled to adhere to the front of that enormous device.
Only after a moment did Qin Mo slowly speak. "Grot retired, yet he didn't even come tell me or say goodbye."
"He actually went looking for you while you were in the Maelstrom, but the ship he was on was attacked by a Red Corsairs vessel that suddenly jumped out of the Warp. The civilian ship escaped successfully, but the cabin Grot was in was hit by a macro cannon," Grey said. "He hadn't even reached the usual retirement age. If this hadn't happened, you would have found him on the army command ship just now."
"Mm..." Qin Mo pressed his lips together and let out a sigh through his nose.
After another stretch of silence, he spoke again.
"Not being able to say goodbye to Klein before he died is one of my regrets. Back in the underhive, he supported me unwaveringly as Regimental Commander. He was the first officer to support me, but when he died, I didn't even make it in time to mourn him."
"So whenever one of those old friends passes on, I always make a point of taking a look."
"Back then, Duncan, the armored regiment commander known as Lord of Tyran's Iron Fist, was close with that man who was lured into a nest and killed by a Gene Stealers patriarch."
"When he passed, I at least projected myself into his home. That tough old bastard refused to make even a muffled groan before he died. After I said goodbye to him, he merely shed tears, then passed peacefully. I closed his eyes myself."
Hearing this, Grey immediately consoled him.
