The next day.
Everyone except Qin Mo, who was clad in Terminator Power Armor, had gathered. They had penetrated deep into enemy territory, behind rebel lines.
All five of them were deployed; this was extremely rare.
"What are the Legion Commander's orders?" Grot asked as he walked beside Grey, looking at the flamethrower-like object in Grey's hand.
Just as Grey was the only one present with a new weapon, Qin Mo had only told him the orders, asking him to relay them when he met up with the others.
"The orders are simple," Grey said, picking up the weapon. "It's like a flamethrower, but it's been modified to spray liquid. We need to find some rebels and spray them."
"..." After hearing Grey's detailed explanation, Grot and the others were all dumbfounded, exchanging bewildered glances. They couldn't understand what he meant at all.
"So this is for testing the new weapon, right?" Anreda asked.
"Yes and no," Grey shook his head. "Actually, this weapon is the final version. We are using it, not testing it. Of course, we are also responsible for observing its effects."
This statement only confused them more.
After Anreda brainstormed for a while, he asked the most crucial question: "This should be a weapon specifically for the rebels, but I don't understand why we have to spray it on individual rebels. It'll at most kill a few rebels, and it's not very useful, is it?"
Grey wanted to explain further, but his speech was too slow, and he could only remain silent in the end.
Although Qin Mo had said it was fine to spray this weapon on any rebel individual, Grey still thought it would be better to find some higher-ranking rebel individuals.
This was why he had led the team to the rear of the rebel-controlled territory.
The group continued to advance.
After traveling about twelve kilometers, Grey stopped in front of a house. The others also stopped and prepared for battle.
The bio-scan indicated that the house contained a large number of rebels, all gathered together. No one knew what they were doing.
"Seal off every window and every door," Grey said, walking towards the building with the insecticide.
Grot stood guard at the door with his gravity hammer, while the others positioned themselves by the windows.
The rebels inside the house were praying and did not realize they had already been surrounded.
They were gathered around a handsome male statue with four arms, bowing and kowtowing with utmost piety.
"Good opportunity," Grey pushed Anreda, who was standing by the window, aside and set up the insecticide-equipped weapon on the windowsill.
It was similar to a flamethrower, yet also somewhat like a sniper rifle, with a very cool appearance.
Before firing, Grey couldn't help but imagine the weapon's power. He wondered if, once he fired, a torrent of energy would erupt and spray onto the rebels, instantly corroding them into residue with the insecticide.
"Stop dawdling and fire already!" Grot urged.
Grey immediately pulled the trigger.
Ssss—
A stream of blue liquid arced through the air, accurately landing on the back of a rebel infantryman.
The infantryman, scratching his back, turned his head to look out the window.
Their eyes met.
Grey quickly fired the rest of the insecticide and then made a quick escape with Grot, who was eager to fight.
"Why can't we just kill them all?" Grot asked, dissatisfied.
"Because we might need time for the insecticide to take effect," Grey replied.
Upon seeing the individuals clad in Terminator Power Armor, the rebels inside the house immediately stopped praying and charged towards Grey and the others.
Grey led the rebels on a chase, like walking a dog, observing their condition as he ran.
The rebels followed them for a while before suddenly undergoing a mutation.
Some experienced swelling in their feet, some in their chests, and others in their heads.
Then, other parts of their bodies began to swell.
Until they exploded like balloons, turning into a pool of blue liquid.
"By the Emperor..."
"The insecticide's power isn't bad..."
"If this were mass-produced and used as a flamethrower, wouldn't it be more efficient for clearing buildings?"
Grot and the others were discussing the weapon's effectiveness, while Grey remained silent.
Grey clearly remembered that he had only hit a small portion of the rebel infantry. The others, who hadn't been hit by the insecticide, still died.
"Guys," Grey said slowly, "this weapon is more powerful than we thought. This will be the first and last time we use it."
"Yeah, because the only rebels left are the ones in that house, right?" Grot said with a laugh.
Grey didn't elaborate further. He turned and led the team away.
On the transport back, no one else recalled Grey's words. Everyone except Grey believed that the insecticide would be mass-produced and deployed.
This was until the transport flew over a battlefield.
Grot truly saw a rebel infantryman on the battlefield explode into blue liquid.
He thought it was an illusion.
But then came a second, a third…
"Is anyone else using the insecticide besides us?" Grot asked.
"No, we're using the prototype," Grey shook his head.
Grot lowered his head and fell into thought.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
Qin Mo sat in the fortress's underground cavern, reviewing the eyewitness reports compiled from the front lines.
All regiments reported seeing rebels they were fighting dissolve into liquid, and after advancing to new areas, they also found traces of rebels dissolving in local buildings and desecrated chapels.
All of this proved that the insecticide was very effective.
There was no need to make further adjustments to the insecticide; they just needed to wait for the rebels to gradually disappear.
And during this waiting period, Qin Mo planned to research anti-psionic technology.
The samples and test subjects for his research would naturally be Vanessa, the psionic.
"What exactly is the principle behind the insecticide? Why can they spread so quickly, don't the rebels isolate infected individuals?" Vanessa spoke incessantly, bound to the operating table.
Qin Mo already felt disgusted by psionics, let alone a talkative psionic like her.
Seeing Qin Mo's displeased expression, Vanessa quickly shut her mouth. She had vaguely heard a voice these past few days urging her to compromise and comply.
Qin Mo performed a Bio-Scan on Vanessa and then carefully examined the scan information.
"You're a genius in both biology and engineering, learning everything without a teacher, so why are you completely clueless about psionics?" Vanessa asked.
"Shut up, psionic." Qin Mo continued to examine the information, head down, but he had to admit to himself that Vanessa was right; he was completely clueless about psionics.
Qin Mo knew very well that his ability to manufacture Terminator Power Armor and other weaponry wasn't because he, like the Orks, had these technologies genetically encoded within him. Instead, it was because he could research and learn simultaneously, a sort of self-Insight effect.
However, when it came to studying psionics, Qin Mo felt like he was trudging through mud.
"Let me teach you," Vanessa said.
"Forget it," Qin Mo dismissed Vanessa's offer as nonsense.
