The Trail of Those in the Know
"A city legend, something used to scare children. Is that all you know?"
"Huh?"
"That won't be enough to keep you alive."
Within some ruins on the outskirts of Commorragh, the thirteenth squad of the White Scars Fourth Company had gathered around an alien family.
The owners of the ruins—a pair of Conspiracy Cabal Archons and their Trueborn daughter—clung to one another, trembling.
"That's all we know! We really only know that much!"
"Spare us!"
The warrior responsible for interrogation ignored their pleas. He stepped forward, gripped the Trueborn daughter by the throat, and dragged the alien child—who was not even as long as a Space Marine's arm—from her parents' embrace.
Just as the Space Marine was about to do something to extract more intelligence concerning the Primarch, the roar of motorcycles rose up.
The entire squad then moved aside, placing their hands over their chests in salute.
Chen Ye, Khan of the Fourth Company, had arrived with his honor guard. He had been clearing out the remaining aliens in Commorragh's core, but the moment he received his subordinate's report about the Primarch, he had rushed over.
"So this is how you were interrogating them? Are you kidding me?"
Chen Ye understood the situation at a glance.
The captain could not help wondering whether he had been right to entrust the search for the Primarch's trail to such a pack of idiots.
"But Khan, these aliens can live for a very long time. They should know..." the squad leader stepped forward to explain.
Chen Ye laughed in exasperation. "And? You think any random old bastard knows where our Primarch is?"
Perhaps the squad leader had realized that interrogating aliens this way was indeed absurd, and that he had not explained himself clearly
