This Is Not Psychic Power

"Where are the psychics?!" Qin Mo looked around but still couldn't find the rebel psychic, so he turned to ask the soldiers dazed on the first floor.

These soldiers had been fighting the rebels inside the building, but so far, they had only seen one psychic, and that was Qin Mo.

"Don't stand outside!" an officer ran down from the second floor to remind Qin Mo, "Let's defend this building together."

Qin Mo was unmoved by the reminder. He stood in the rain of bullets with his gravity shield on his back, scanning every soldier of the planetary defense force on the first floor.

The soldiers' faces were filled with shock and terror. The rebels' relentless attacks had left them exhausted and frightened.

Qin Mo realized he needed to do something to boost morale, so he looked at Grey.

Grey nodded silently, looked at the remaining four soldiers of the 44th Regiment, and then walked behind Qin Mo with them, maintaining a three-meter distance between each soldier to avoid overlapping the gravity shield's range.

"The best defense is offense," Qin Mo said, turning his head to face the rebels sweeping towards him and stepping forward.

Grey and his comrades advanced while firing, appearing fearless but still harboring a sliver of worry.

Although the gravity shield allowed them to walk through the hail of bullets as if strolling, what if someone among the rebels was wielding a lasgun...

As he worried, Grey spotted a large number of rebels armed with lasguns gathering in the distance. He immediately turned to warn Qin Mo, but Qin Mo had already acted.

Within a radius of five hundred meters, the laws of physics were selectively distorted, and the hit probability, influenced by multiple factors, was modified to a fixed condition of absolute impossibility to hit.

All lasers fired at Qin Mo were deflected to the ground.

Qin Mo took ten more steps forward, then raised his staff and slammed it forcefully onto the ground.

A fan-shaped burst of flame erupted from the ground, rushing forward and incinerating everything in its path. Metal melted, and bodies turned to ash.

Those hiding inside the building clearly saw that this single attack had eliminated a large number of rebels.

Qin Mo raised his staff again, then pressed the button on his Chainsword, and said amidst the whirring hum of the rotating teeth, "For the Emperor."

His imposing figure stood tall in the rain of bullets, impervious to both bullets and shells.

At the tip of his staff, the golden double-headed eagle, symbolizing the Imperium, shone brightly in the firelight.

Every soldier inside the building who witnessed this scene felt a surge of heat in their veins. They felt as if the Lord of Humanity, seated on the Golden Throne, had turned his gaze upon this battlefield, expecting his subjects to display courage.

"For the Emperor!"

The soldiers roared and charged out of the building, rushing towards the rebels without fear of death.

Qin Mo led the charge, deactivating his gravity shield and swinging his Chainsword to cut down every enemy in his path. His heroic combat posture further inspired his soldiers, each one proud to be at the forefront of the charge.

But Qin Mo's current state was not as robust as he appeared. He was actually extremely fatigued and numb, his body feeling heavy as if filled with lead, his eyelids so heavy that he couldn't open them if he used the strength supplied to his head to turn his head.

This state was due to modifying the laws of physics when facing the lasguns earlier. The ability's range had been pushed to its absolute limit, thus draining most of Qin Mo's energy.

It was in this weakened state that Qin Mo encountered the enemy he feared the most.

The enemy was not a hulking Genestealer aberration, but a small, purple-skinned creature with a grotesque appearance, similar to Gollum from The Lord of the Rings.

It was called a Brain Grub Familiar.

They possessed the most threatening ability to a psychic – psychic interference.

"Kekeke... Kekeke..." The Brain Grub Familiar crawled onto a rebel soldier and stared at Qin Mo from a hundred meters away, its tiny eyes flashing with purple light.

It was clearly already using its psychic interference ability.

Qin Mo had intended to retreat, but he suddenly realized that this creature's psychic interference was having no effect on him.

They stared at each other for a moment.

The atmosphere became somewhat awkward.

"..." The Brain Grub Familiar.

"..." Qin Mo.

As a look of confusion appeared on the Brain Grub Familiar's face, Qin Mo raised his staff and unleashed lightning, incinerating everything within thirty meters of the Brain Grub Familiar's location.

Having eliminated the threat, Qin Mo surveyed his surroundings.

Under his army's desperate counterattack, the rebels, who had long lost their commander, finally couldn't hold on. Those at the rear began to scatter, but the majority were still fighting.

Qin Mo prepared to completely shatter the rebels' morale. He floated into the air, beginning to gather power for his most ferocious attack.

Soon, the rebels discovered that within a fifty-meter radius in their center, all physical phenomena had become extremely distorted and bizarre.

The metal ground beneath their feet would sometimes become soft as sponge, and sometimes flow and churn like seawater, causing those who stepped on it to "drown."

Their bulletproof armor changed multiple times in just ten seconds, sometimes flowing along their bodies, and other times seeping into their bodies and surging through their veins.

Bullets fired at the planetary defense forces flew backward, hitting the shooters in the back of the head.

A bayonet they had thrust out ended up creating a gaping hole in their own abdomen.

These physical phenomena killed all the rebels within the affected area and caused the rebels who witnessed these phenomena to suffer psychological collapse, fleeing in a desperate panic.

Even the planetary defense forces, who had fought alongside Qin Mo, felt fear towards the strange power he unleashed.

When Qin Mo landed, everyone nearby, except for Grey and the remaining soldiers of the 44th Regiment, instinctively retreated, maintaining a distance from Qin Mo.

"This... this isn't psychic power," Qin Mo said weakly.

But the people around him couldn't understand, nor did they know why he would say that.

Only Qin Mo himself knew that when the Brain Grub Familiar couldn't interfere with his psychic power, he had definitively confirmed that his strength was absolutely not psychic power.

But what it actually was, he had no way of knowing.

"..." The soldiers and officers stared at Qin Mo in fear.

"He just saved your lives!" Grey roared at the others, "You people would have been torn apart by the rebels, just like everyone else in the 44th Infantry Regiment besides us!"

Hearing this outburst, everyone else lowered their heads in shame.

The shame was real, the gratitude was real, but the fear was also real.

"I need to rest." Qin Mo stepped towards the building, nearly falling after taking just one step. He leaned heavily on his scepter and continued walking.

The battle just now had completely drained his stamina; he was only supporting himself with his will, as he didn't want to crawl in front of so many people.

Grey immediately stepped forward, took the Chainsword, and then took the backpack off Qin Mo's back, carrying it himself.

"What this guy said is right, he saved us." A burly soldier walked over, wanting to carry Qin Mo, but Qin Mo merely handed him his scepter before supporting another member of the 44th Regiment as they walked.

The surviving medics stepped forward to examine Qin Mo's body. The others either walked into the building together or went ahead a few steps to clear out a room for rest inside.
