The Nightbringer fragment had completed and enjoyed its slaughter on Medrengard. Only after feasting on souls and venting its desires did it remember there was still one matter left unresolved.

It was revenge against those who had bound it.

The Nightbringer fragment leaped into the air. Like all C'tan and C'tan fragments, it merely needed to make the motion of a jump to escape a planet's gravity.

Just as they could also plunge through an atmosphere in ways that astonished mortal flesh.

But as the Nightbringer fragment was about to leave Medrengard's atmosphere, and its obsession with vengeance was about to shift toward the warships beyond orbit, a meteor suddenly circled the planet along its orbit and bombarded the Nightbringer.

The distance from the void to Medrengard's surface was roughly over a thousand kilometers. The Nightbringer accelerated continuously throughout that distance, and after entering the atmosphere, it even displayed the same phenomenon seen when Burner plunged into a planet: it burned like a fireball.

Yet even when it finally slammed into the ground with a thunderous crash, blasting a massive crater into the dead planet's surface, its body suffered no damage whatsoever. It even adjusted its posture as it landed, standing with dignity at the center of the crater it had made rather than sprawled within it.

A sphere whose ever-changing form could not be described by any language slowly descended above the Nightbringer.

"Mimic!"

A furious roar erupted from the Nightbringer, causing every dying being in the Real Universe who stood on the verge of death to immediately perish.
