Ch. 222Corruption Everywhere

Kasrkin arrived to neutralize Eli, a Cadia Shock Troops corporal whose growing Psychic Power made him hear relentless whispers. After a vision of the Kasrkin killing him and a brief encounter with what seemed to be the Emperor, Eli was teleported away and died, while the camp’s soldiers wondered why the surroundings had suddenly grown cold.

  • Two Kasrkin arrived at the 112th Regiment camp and went to the dormitory to find Eli, whose Psychic Power had made the air grow cold.
  • Eli foresaw the Kasrkin entering and shooting him, then woke to find the vision had not happened and complained that they had not come yet.
  • Whispers flooded Eli’s mind with claims that the Emperor had engineered humanity’s suffering, and he angrily tried to resist them.
  • A vision of the Emperor appeared to comfort Eli, but it changed into a mocking two-headed bird-man as scenes of Cadia’s destruction overwhelmed him.
  • Eli tried to shoot himself, but his laspistol would not fire; a drone teleported him away, and the gathered soldiers confirmed he was dead.
  • The soldiers mourned Eli and asked why the camp had suddenly grown cold.

Ch. 223Psychic Gate

After a psyker’s death opened a gate between Cadia and Sanctus Yosman Prison World, Creed and Qin Mo assessed the danger and ordered the prison world destroyed. Qin Mo also sent Yao En and the Thirteenth Regiment to close the gate.

  • At the 112th Regiment’s base, soldiers discovered a blue vortex leading to Sanctus Yosman Prison World and killed two prisoners who attacked them.
  • The officer entered the vortex, identified the prison world, and ordered his troops to secure the gate and report to command.
  • Kyle showed Creed and Qin Mo footage of the gate, and Qin Mo concluded that Eli’s death had released Psychic Power that opened it.
  • Creed and Qin Mo agreed Sanctus Yosman had fallen out of control, and Creed proposed destroying it with a Cyclone Torpedo.
  • Qin Mo ordered the Stone Man to destroy Sanctus Yosman and sent Yao En with the Thirteenth Regiment to disperse the gate.

Ch. 224Thirteenth Regiment

Yao En’s Thirteenth Regiment guarded the Psychic Gate while the Celestial Engine destroyed Sanctus Yosman, then returned from the completed mission. In the Warp, Carlos realized its plan to use the Prison World’s Psykers had failed, but foresaw its master creating a new entrance through a Psyker on Cadia.

  • Yao En led the 101 Untouchables of the Thirteenth Regiment to the Psychic Gate, where their presence made the gate shrink and sickened nearby Cadia Soldiers.
  • The Celestial Engine scanned Sanctus Yosman, found no survivors, and began its extermination protocol as prisoners gathered at the Psychic Gate.
  • Yao En ordered the Thirteenth Regiment to fire on prisoners trying to escape, and the Celestial Engine’s Particle Lances destroyed Sanctus Yosman.
  • After the gate vanished, Yao En declared the mission over and prepared the Thirteenth Regiment to return while the 112th Regiment welcomed their departure.
  • Carlos watched the destruction of Sanctus Yosman and recognized that its plan had failed, then foresaw its master making a Psyker on Cadia into a new entrance.

Ch. 226An Inexplicable Prophecy

Vanessa persuaded Sven Bloodhowl to travel to Cadia aboard a Tyran ship, then relayed a prophecy from two Chief Librarians about a meteor moving through the Warp toward Cadia. A week later, Cadia remained secure, but Qin Mo and Creed prepared for the unknown threat by deploying the reinforcements and strengthening the defenses.

  • Vanessa persuaded Sven Bloodhowl and his Space Wolves to board a Tyran transport ship after Klein explained the ships’ Dimension Engines.
  • Klein told Vanessa that two Chief Librarians had requested he report a prophecy of a meteor traveling through the Warp toward Cadia, and Vanessa sent her interpretation to the Celestial Engine.
  • A week later, Tyran cargo ships delivered the Astra Militarum soldiers and Space Marines to Cadia.
  • Creed discussed deploying reinforcements with Qin Mo and explained that he needed every strategy to be flawless.
  • Qin Mo told Creed that the Psychic gate incident had convinced him Cadia needed the reinforcements, while the Celestial Engine’s analysis of the prophecy remained inconclusive.

Ch. 227Attack

The Stone Man detected a Warp rift about to strike Cadia and used the Celestial Engine to send Qin Mo a warning one hour into the past. Qin Mo and Creed ordered forces to evacuate Tuyuko Plains and prepare defenses as the attack approached.

  • The Stone Man detected Warp energy moving toward Cadia and recorded its impact point at Tuyuko Plains, coordinates 332,111.
  • The Stone Man used C'tan power to move the Celestial Engine one hour into the past and sent Qin Mo information about the coming attack.
  • Qin Mo warned Creed to withdraw the garrison from Tuyuko Plains and ordered the Tyran Army to retreat while the Tyran 13th Regiment prepared to engage the threat.
  • Creed received Deputy Kyle's report of the Tyranids withdrawing and ordered all armies on the plains to evacuate.
  • Creed ordered the other fortresses to prepare support and requested that the Adeptus Mechanicus deploy the Flame Titan Legion and Centurions to the edge of the plains.

Ch. 228People Like Us

Yao En and the Thirteenth Regiment were deployed to contain Warp threats, but a huge daemon force overwhelmed the Soulless Ones. Yao En survived, confronted Carlos, and used a C’tan-powered Chainsword to burn through the daemons as Qin Mo explained the daemon’s strange sight.

  • Yao En prepared the Thirteenth Regiment for battle and told the soldiers they could ask questions because people like them were allowed to know more.
  • Warp energy surged, and the regiment suppressed and killed a Psyker, then wiped out a group of a hundred Psykers.
  • A vast Psychic host opened a gateway, and daemons poured out, annihilating the Soulless Ones while Yao En dodged the spell that destroyed them.
  • Yao En cut off one of Carlos’s heads, and the daemon teleported away before Yao En could pursue it.
  • Qin Mo identified Carlos and explained that one head saw the past while the other saw the future, then infused Yao En’s Chainsword with C’tan power.
  • Yao En drove the Chainsword into the ground and unleashed a sweeping fire that burned the approaching daemons.

Ch. 229Choice

Qin Mo and the Stone Man tried repeatedly to stop Psykers from opening gates for demons on Cadia, but each reset brought larger attacks. Qin Mo decided to study the Blackstone Obelisks to close the system’s rift and left the people of Cadia with a choice about fighting the demons.

  • Qin Mo warned Yao En about Carlos’s Staff of Tomorrow, then stopped him from attacking and ordered the 13th Regiment’s failed attempt reset.
  • The Stone Man repeatedly returned the hidden chamber to an earlier time, while the enemy increased the number of Psykers appearing across Cadia.
  • The Stone Man concluded that closing the system’s rift was more feasible than killing every Psyker in the galaxy.
  • Qin Mo rejected the plan to keep resetting time, decided to study Blackstone, and ordered the Stone Man to continue intercepting Psykers while he worked.
  • Qin Mo told the Stone Man that the people of Cadia and his forces had to choose whether to fight demons or let Carlos continue causing changes.

Ch. 230Researching Blackstone

Qin Mo briefed Creed on repeated failed cycles in which Psykers summoned daemons on Cadia, then went beneath the Blackstone Obelisks to study them. As the Astra Militarum built defenses across the Tuyuko Plains, Qin Mo completed his research into Blackstone and Creed prepared for the coming attack.

  • Qin Mo showed Creed visions of more than a dozen cycles, explained the coming Psyker attack, and said the Celestial Engine would turn back time if the battle became irretrievable.
  • Creed ordered the regular forces to withdraw to the edges of the Tuyuko Plains and arranged deployments of Titans and Adeptus Mechanicus Centurions.
  • Qin Mo teleported beneath the Blackstone Obelisk array and declined the Stone Man's suggestion to seek guidance from the Void Dragon on Mars.
  • Qin Mo reviewed the Logistics Machines' completed data collection and learned Blackstone's material composition and energy response before studying its applications for less than three hours.
  • Creed established defensive lines across the Tuyuko Plains with Cadian and Mordian troops, printed fortifications, mines, and reinforcements, while keeping most of the Tyran Army in reserve.

Ch. 231Carlos's Trump Card

Carlos used a marked Psyker to create a crystal region that refracted the Celestial Engine’s lance and became a gateway for demons. As the invasion spread across Cadia, Creed ordered Yao En and Sven to prepare to attack the region.

  • At 9:09 a.m., a thousand Psykers appeared on the Tuyuko Plains, and the Celestial Engine’s lance destroyed the demons emerging there.
  • Carlos arrived in the crater, used the Staff of Tomorrow to turn a marked Psyker into crystals, and refracted the Celestial Engine’s next lance back at its satellite structure.
  • Carlos’s Book of Fate showed the crystal region becoming a forbidden ground from which demons would attack Cadia, though its pages also contained a blank space and an incomprehensible entry.
  • At Milak Bastion, Creed and Cadia’s leaders surveyed the attacks spreading across the plains and other locations, while an Inquisitor and a Sister Superior reacted uneasily to the demons’ presence.
  • Creed asked Yao En whether he could disperse the crystal region, and Sven offered to go with him before leaving to prepare drop pods.

Ch. 232Soulless Ones Against Demons

Yao En teleported above the crystal zone and fought through the demons to clear a landing area for Imperial reinforcements. The Tyran 13th Regiment and Space Wolves landed and joined the advance toward the crystal zone.

  • The Celestial Engine failed to clear a teleportation site with Particle Lances, so Yao En ordered it to teleport him above the crystal zone.
  • A Lord of Change named Tari shifted Yao En's position in midair, but Yao En slowed his fall with his Jump Pack and struck the demon horde with his Chainsword.
  • Yao En's Soulless One nature terrified the demons, and the C'tan's power gave him a spear as he fought through them with flames and electricity.
  • After less than five minutes, Yao En cleared a large area, allowing the Tyran 13th Regiment to teleport in and follow him toward the crystal zone.
  • Wolf Lord Sven Bloodhowl led two hundred Space Wolves in drop pods to the cleared area, where they attacked weakened demons and protected the Soulless Ones' advance.

Ch. 233Silver Figure

Qin Mo appeared on the Tuyuko Plains and erased the demons outside the crystal zone with a wave of fire, then manipulated space to help the Imperial forces fight their way into the zone. As the battle continued across Cadia, a hunched silver figure watched from afar and said events differed from the astrologer’s prediction.

  • Carlos sent Tari to attack the approaching Soulless Ones while he used demons from the crystal zone to support the assault.
  • Carlos tried to cast a powerful Psychic Power spell through the Staff of Tomorrow, but the Book of Fate showed only blank pages and the spell failed.
  • Qin Mo appeared on the Tuyuko Plains and burned away every demon outside the crystal zone, sparing the mortals and Space Marines.
  • Qin Mo shifted the Soulless Ones and Space Marines outside the crystal zone, then Yao En led the 13th Regiment inside as the zone began to contract.
  • Qin Mo returned beneath the Blackstone Obelisk to continue researching its activation while Creed managed battles across Cadia with help from the Tyran Army.
  • A hunched silver figure watched the battle from a distant mountain and said it was unlike what the astrologer had predicted.

Ch. 234Encryption Methods

Qin Mo deciphered the Blackstone Obelisk’s encryption and began studying how to control it before Trazyn the Infinite appeared and identified him as a C’tan. Trazyn departed after warning Qin Mo that the Chaos fleet had returned to the system and left gifts on the Celestial Engine.

  • Qin Mo used the Celestial Engine and his C’tan power to decipher the Obelisk’s encryption, discovering it was a distorted equation that only a C’tan could restore and solve.
  • Qin Mo began analyzing the Obelisk’s information to learn how to activate it.
  • Trazyn the Infinite arrived, questioned Qin Mo, and examined his Living Metal shell and work on the Obelisk.
  • Qin Mo twisted Trazyn’s body into a pretzel, and Trazyn concluded that Qin Mo was a complete, sane C’tan.
  • Trazyn proposed future cooperation, then warned Qin Mo that the Chaos fleet had returned and that he had left gifts on the Celestial Engine.

Ch. 235Too Crazy

Abaddon, Taifon, and Korax carried out Korax’s ritual by teleporting their elite forces onto the Celestial Engine’s Iron Planet, intending to launch a boarding assault. As the Chaos Space Marines clashed with Iron Men on a satellite, Grey activated their combat protocol and prepared a scan that could destroy everyone there.

  • Abaddon chose the Iron Planet as the target for Korax’s Blood God’s Gladiatorial Combat ritual, and Korax ordered their forces to board it.
  • Abaddon, Taifon, Korax, and their elite warriors teleported onto one of the Celestial Engine’s satellite structures as its Arc Weapon arrays charged to fire on the Chaos fleet.
  • Two hundred Iron Men emerged from blue rifts and came under heavy fire from the Black Legion and other Chaos Space Marines, but the attacks had little effect.
  • Grey counted 572 Space Marines on the satellite, authorized the Iron Men’s combat protocol, and ordered a directional scan of Satellite Two that could shatter both sides.

Ch. 236Take My Axe

Abaddon and the Chaos Space Marines destroyed the Iron Men, but an unseen entity intervened when the Iron Moon began charging its weapons. It damaged the Celestial Engine satellite and sent it hurtling toward Cadia, where the Stone Men diverted the planet’s power to prevent disaster and begin repairs.

  • Iron Men opened fire on the Chaos Space Marines, killing Terminators and Korax’s warriors before the fighting turned to close combat.
  • Taifon recorded that the Iron Men operated without Data-Smiths, while Abaddon and the others destroyed them in battle.
  • The Iron Moon began charging its Arc Weapons, and Korax revealed that the ritual had been completed when they boarded.
  • An unseen entity watched Cadia and the approaching transports, then struck the Celestial Engine satellite with a giant axe.
  • The Stone Men redirected the planet’s energy to shield Cadia, control the satellite’s movement, and repair its damage with the Giant Matter Printer.

Ch. 237Landing Battle

Carlos withdrew from Cadia after receiving an order to await the Lord of Change’s aid, while the Chaos fleet forced its way to the Celestial Engine satellite and deployed a Titan Legion. Creed prepared the Imperials to defend the satellite, then learned from Grey that the Celestial Engine had a Titan Legion of its own and took command of the battle.

  • Carlos deciphered a command to remain on Cadia and await the Lord of Change’s interference and aid, then escaped alone through a Psychic gate.
  • The Chaos fleet sacrificed seven Cruisers to escort its Transport Ships to the satellite, where it deployed Chaos troops, Titans, and Knights.
  • Creed assessed the fighting on Cadia and the threat posed by the Chaos Titan Legion on the satellite, while the Canoness offered to lead the Sisters of Battle into the fight.
  • Grey told Creed that the Celestial Engine had a Titan Legion, and Creed shifted his attention from Cadia to take command of the satellite battle.

Ch. 238Blade of the Omnissiah

Creed’s forces fought Chaos across the satellite’s weapon arrays as the Death’s Head Legion pushed forward with its Titans. Vik’s newly deployed Blade of the Omnissiah turned the tide with a surprise assault, and the chapter ended with both Titan Legions advancing into a major battle.

  • Creed’s army landed on the satellite and fought Chaos for control of its weapon arrays and the plains between them.
  • The Death’s Head Legion advanced with fifteen Warhound-class Titans, ten Reaver-class Titans, four Warlord-class Titans, and Death God, though Creed kept his forces from suffering excessive losses.
  • Ommn led the Blade of the Omnissiah’s forty Divine Machines out of deployment, and Agrippina’s Radiance opened fire on Death God and a nearby Warlord-class Titan.
  • Agrippina’s Radiance used its missiles to destroy thousands of advancing enemy tanks as the Blade of the Omnissiah marched forward.
  • Adepta Sororitas, Knights, Cadia Shock Troops, and Space Marines joined the Titans in battle between the weapon arrays while fighting continued inside the arrays.

Ch. 239Heat Ventilation Ducts

Abaddon’s forces used an Augur Array to find a route toward the Iron Planet’s systems, unaware that Grey’s surveillance network tracked their every move. Grey led Grot and his surviving guards through a heat duct toward the enemy commander while the battle raged just above them.

  • Taifon used his Augur Array to locate a route to the Iron Planet’s systems, and Abaddon considered sabotaging the planet or making it crash into Cadia.
  • Grey watched Abaddon’s group through the Celestial Engine’s surveillance network and explained why he had not attacked while the enemy was near its Titan Legion.
  • Grot told Grey how stray Titan fire had wiped out nine thousand soldiers of the 44th Regiment, leaving Grot and his hundred guards alive before Grey rescued them.
  • Grey led Grot and his guards through a heat ventilation duct beneath the battlefield as Titans and infantry fought overhead.
  • Grey guided the group toward a corner that descended deep underground, but a Titan’s horn drowned out his words.

Ch. 240Inquisitor

Grey and the Tyran Army rescued Inquisitor Greyfax and eighteen Space Marines from fifty Chaos Space Marines inside a Celestial Engine near Cadia. Greyfax said she and the Space Marines had suddenly appeared there, and the chapter ended with Grey learning her name.

  • Grot’s scan revealed that the maze-like passage was part of a weapons array’s fire-control system, and the group detected an Inquisitor and eighteen Space Marines fighting fifty Chaos Space Marines.
  • Grey chose to help the Inquisitor despite Grot’s hostility toward the Inquisition, then used Bullet Time to kill five Chaos Space Marines.
  • Grey summoned Grot and his guard through a dimensional rift, and they joined the Inquisitor and her Space Marines in defeating the remaining enemies.
  • The Inquisitor aimed her crossbow at Grey and questioned him about the Tyran Army, while her Space Marines aimed their Bolters at Grot’s group.
  • Grey warned the Inquisitor that he could kill her, and she lowered her weapons and explained that she and the Space Marines had suddenly appeared there.
  • Grey asked the Inquisitor for her name, and she identified herself as Greyfax.

Ch. 241The So-Called Truth

Grey exchanged information with Greyfax and the ancient Ultramarines, then invited them to either travel to Cadia or help fight the enemy commander. They chose to stay, while Captain Gaius insisted that science—not sorcery or worship—should guide humanity.

  • Grey told Greyfax and the Thirteenth Legion veterans about the current era, and learned how Greyfax had awakened after encountering a hunched silver figure.
  • The Legion captain asked about Ultramar and their Primarch, and Grey and Greyfax explained that the Legion had been divided into Chapters and that their Primarch was gravely wounded.
  • Grey offered to teleport the veterans to Cadia or let them help kill the enemy commander, and the Space Marines and Greyfax chose to stay and fight.
  • Grey asked whether the group could counter enemy sorcery, but Greyfax and Captain Gaius denied that sorcery existed and taught that unexplained phenomena would eventually be explained by science.
  • The Grot questioned the Space Marines' denial that the Emperor was a god, and Grey redirected the conversation by claiming the Tyranids had always believed in science.
  • Gaius said his company would visit the Tyran Sector after the battle to teach the Imperial Truth, and Grey and Greyfax reluctantly accepted.

Ch. 242Invisibility Plugin

Grey’s group prepared an ambush near the Celestial Engine’s main control apparatus, while Abaddon’s force advanced through the maze-like satellite. The ambush began with a gravity attack and a flank assault, leaving Abaddon, Taifon, and Korax stunned by their attackers’ ancient armor.

  • Grey gave the Gravity Scepter to Grot and planned for his group to pin down Abaddon’s forces while he attacked their commander.
  • Grot’s guard activated their invisibility plugins, and Grey climbed a wall to hide above the corridor.
  • Abaddon’s group continued toward the control apparatus as communications with its scouting teams remained unreliable.
  • The Black Legion Terminators fired at an unseen enemy, hitting Grot and causing him to teleport away before Grey’s allies crushed the squad with the Gravity Weapon.
  • Eighteen Space Marines emerged from the corridor and attacked from the flank, shocking Abaddon, Taifon, and Korax because they wore ancient MK3 power armor.
