Background / History

Ning Rongrong is the daughter of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect Master and the sect's designated next leader. Because the sect's disciples are limited to level 79 soul power by their martial souls, the sect values powerful soul masters as protectors and sought an alliance with the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. 1

She first encountered Yu Tianjiao in the Star Dou Forest while obtaining her first soul ring. There, she witnessed him kill a thousand-year-old soul beast bare-handed. His strength, appearance, and the praise he received from her two Title Douluo grandfathers left a lasting impression on her. She subsequently visited the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan with Sword Douluo Chen Xin often, making the two half-childhood sweethearts. 1

When Yu Tianjiao became a level-40 Soul Ancestor at eleven, Ning Fengzhi arranged their engagement. The agreement avoided either party marrying fully into the other's sect or clan: their future children would carry both family names, one Yu and one Ning. 1

Ning Rongrong's engagement to Yu Tianjiao represents a planned alliance between the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Her sect's decision to cancel it after his regression triggers the story's “Fallen Genius” conflict. 1

She arrives at the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan with Chen Xin on Yu Tianjiao's birthday, immediately after the three-year waiting period she had promised him. The engagement is formally dissolved after Chen Xin states that Yu Tianjiao can no longer provide the protection she requires. 2

Aftermath of the Divorce Letter

Yu Tianjiao accepts the dissolution without pleading, writes a blood-stamped divorce letter, and warns Chen Xin not to bully the young because they are poor. His indifference shocks Ning Rongrong, who had expected either anger or an attempt to keep her. 3
