Background / History

Tang San entered Notting Academy as Yu Xiaogang’s disciple and pursued strength through Spirit Rings, hidden techniques, and repeated training. Tang Hao secretly watched over him during his first Spirit Ring hunt, while Tang San’s early goal became surpassing Xiao Tian after their clashes at the academy 11 15 17.

He repeatedly challenged Xiao Tian out of jealousy over Xiao Wu and confidence in his Blue Silver Grass, hidden weapons, and techniques from his past life. Xiao Tian defeated him several times, undermining Tang San’s confidence in Blue Silver Grass as a control-type Martial Soul 15 16 21 49. Despite their rivalry, the two temporarily cooperated against Zhao Wuji 38.

Tang Hao later revealed that Tang San’s mother, A Yin, was a 100,000-year Soul Beast and that Tang San possessed the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. Tang San also learned that Xiao Wu was a 100,000-year Soul Beast; Tang Hao advised him to consider absorbing her power in order to oppose Spirit Hall, leaving Tang San conflicted 187.

When Tang Hao brought him to the Blue Silver Ancestral Land, A Yin extracted Tang San’s Blue Silver Emperor bloodline instead of completing his awakening. His Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul shattered, his Soul Power fell to level ten, and his appearance became more like Tang Hao’s 199 246. Tang Hao subsequently redirected Tang San’s cultivation toward the Clear Sky Hammer 202.

Tang San rebuilt his strength through high-year Soul Rings and became a level 57 Soul King. He agreed to return to the Clear Sky Sect after the Soul Master Competition, intending to learn the Soul Detonation Ring and Great Sumeru Hammer 210 211. Tang Chen later named him Young Sect Master and intended to teach him the sect’s secret arts 280.

During the annihilation of the Clear Sky Sect, Xiao Tian projected Tang San’s past-life memories, revealing that he had been an abandoned infant raised as an Outer Disciple of another Tang Sect. Tang San was killed by a Sword Qi through the head while trying to escape 308.

Appearance

Following the loss of his maternal bloodline, Tang San’s appearance changed to closely resemble Tang Hao 199 246.

  • Initially retained features associated with both parents through his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 198 199.
  • After the bloodline extraction, his face became “basically the same” as Tang Hao’s 246.

Personality

Tang San is determined, competitive, and resourceful in battle. He repeatedly seeks methods to overcome stronger opponents, combining Martial Souls, hidden weapons, poison, and movement techniques rather than relying on direct force alone 13 149 209.

His rivalry with Xiao Tian increasingly fuels jealousy, resentment, and impatience. He challenges Xiao Tian over Xiao Wu, interprets setbacks as interference with his plans, and privately delights at the possibility of Xiao Tian’s death during the Titan Giant Ape incident 15 74 189.

After losing Blue Silver Grass, he adapts quickly and accepts the need to cultivate the Clear Sky Hammer, though he remains focused on gaining Soul Bones and rapidly increasing his strength 208 209.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San originally possessed Blue Silver Grass in his right hand and the Clear Sky Hammer in his left hand. He concealed the hammer for much of his early career, then relied on it after Blue Silver Grass was destroyed 149 199 202.

  • Blue Silver Grass — formerly his primary control-type Martial Soul; used for entanglement, parasitism, and spiderweb restraints 15 149 179.
  • Clear Sky Hammer — his remaining Martial Soul after the loss of Blue Silver Grass; used to defeat Tai Nuo and later became the foundation of his rebuilt cultivation 149 202.
  • Limitation: His Blue Silver Grass became unusable after A Yin removed the Blue Silver Emperor bloodline 199 205.

Hidden Weapons

Tang San manufactures and deploys concealed mechanical weapons based on knowledge from his past life 96 308.

  • Uses silver needles, short daggers, sleeve arrows, and other projectiles in combat 21.
  • Uses poisons to weaken physically stronger opponents 149.
  • Created and promoted the Zhuge Divine Crossbow; planned to sell complete sets to fund the Tang Sect 96 189.
  • Intended to pursue advanced Tang Sect weapons including the Peacock Plume, Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needle, and Buddha Fury Tang Lotus 189.
  • His demonstrated hidden weapons were judged useful for self-defense, but Chen Xin found their shown power insufficient against high-level Soul Masters 96.

Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track

A movement technique used for evasive footwork and rapid repositioning 16.

  • Allowed Tang San to narrowly evade Xiao Tian’s Three Absolute Sword Qi 21.
  • Used to dodge Tai Nuo’s attacks during their battle 149.
  • Could not match Xiao Tian’s Worlds Apart at Hand’s Reach in speed 47.

Mystic Jade Hand

A hand technique that strengthens Tang San’s close-quarters offense and handling of weapons 16.

  • Used alongside Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track against Xiao Tian 16.
  • Combined with Controlling Crane Catching Dragon against Zhao Wuji 38.
  • Activated in his fight with Tai Nuo 149.

Purple Demon Eyes

An ocular technique that enhances Tang San’s perception 16.

  • Used to observe distant movement and identify approaching people 149.
  • Partially saw through Shi Nian’s illusion, though it had not reached the next realm and could not fully negate the Soul Saint’s mental ability 189.

External Soul Bones

  • Eight Spider Lances — obtained from the 50,000-year Man-Faced Spider Emperor; later used in battle and described as a former trump card 209 169.
  • Thousand Jun Bulwark — defensive fifth Soul Skill obtained from the 70,000-year Thousand Jun Ant Emperor; used with Tang Hao’s Clear Sky Bodyguard to withstand Xiao Tian’s sword formation 210.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night — Soul Tool used to store and deploy hidden weapons 308.
  • Zhuge Divine Crossbow — Tang Sect hidden weapon intended for sale and combat use 96 189.
  • Zhuge Repeating Crossbow — his strongest completed hidden weapon during Shi Nian’s ambush 189.
  • Godly Zhuge Crossbow — deployed against Xiao Tian during the Clear Sky Sect’s final battle 308.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — father and protector; guides Tang San’s cultivation, rescues him from Shi Nian, and later helps him acquire Clear Sky Hammer Soul Rings 11 189 209.
  • A Yin — mother and Blue Silver Emperor; initially assists his bloodline awakening, then extracts his bloodline and rejects his identity as her son 198 199 200.
  • Yu Xiaogang — teacher and mentor; directs Tang San’s early Spirit Ring choices and seeks methods to cultivate his Twin Martial Souls 11 27 205.
  • Xiao Tian — principal rival; repeatedly defeats Tang San and ultimately kills him 17 21 308.
  • Xiao Wu — classmate and romantic interest; Tang San’s jealousy over her closeness to Xiao Tian drives several confrontations 15 21 187.
  • Tang Chen — great-grandfather by presumed lineage; appoints Tang San Young Sect Master before learning the truth about his past life 280 308.
