Background / History

Jing Hongchen was Shen Chong’s longtime rival within the Sun Moon Empire’s soul-tool sphere. Shen Chong described Jing as a figure whose gifted grandchildren had been cultivated through his methods, then deliberately lured him toward the Star Dou Great Forest by implying that a valuable treasure was hidden there. 53

Jing arrived at the forest with his grandson Xiao Hongchen, expecting to seize a possible Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast embryo or soul bone before Shen Chong could claim it. Instead, Di Tian, Lord Bear, and other Great Beasts surrounded him. With Xiao Hongchen at risk and every escape route blocked, he surrendered; his Soul Tools were confiscated and his soul power sealed. 54

Initially refusing to teach the Great Beasts, Jing eventually learned that Shen Chong had been using the situation to secure Liu Feng as a disciple. Liu Feng’s extraordinary aptitude, including his rapid grasp of Soul Tool arrays and unusual three-ring configuration, convinced Jing that he was a once-in-a-generation talent with the potential to become a Rank 10 Soul Tool Master. 55 56
